Maybe, but it's now law in 12 states. Granted, the low hanging fruit got picked first, but it's worth pointing out that within my life time the gay community has gone from "ewww.....cooties" to something approaching equality, and the devils lettuce is approaching legality in enough states for a constitutional amendment itself.
Call me an optimist.
Those are social issues more than anything. Eliminating the electoral college would fundamentally alter the power balance between states in favor of the more populous states. There's no way that will make it through the Senate.
If states counting for 271 electoral votes pass it individually then the senate need not be involved at all.

Meh. Hamilton wrote about the dangers of faction and this system was part of what he thought would combat it. I think the Republican Party as it is is a great example of faction at work.

No one cares if you're a dick to shitty human beings (ie most politicians) or rich narcissists (ie most celebrities).
