I'm just glad I did not go over the bars. Thankful for body armor protection! I was a little sore today, but had another good day of riding. Now South bound I95..
Andy and Ben RichterIf anyone knows the guy riding with his son (tiny blue and white demo) tell him I have a good video of his son coming down the am course. I can email it if he wants it..
Don't sell the big bike!Third pic is me bar humping the little bike. Ben Richter is the 9 year old mini shredder, with his dad Andy, from Greenville SC.
Hey! Thanks for the post about Ben. I'm a rare sight on this message board, but appreciate the help from Clealan and Jay connecting me to you. Sure! would love some video of Ben...he hates it when I do that, so I don't really get any good stuff. If anyone knows the guy riding with his son (tiny blue and white demo) tell him I have a good video of his son coming down the am course. It had a mean kick to it for some odd reasonYou're not the only one who botched that drop at the top of the Pro course. I went head-first into the ground.....
I think the landing is not as steep as it was for the Nat or something.Well, seems like the drop got bigger from last year. Part of it was just user error, didnt scope it out at all. Landed front heavy first time, figured I just needed more speed. Clearly that wasn't the answer.
Yeah it's almost like they carved it out a bit or something. Will have to take a closer look next time before I hit it again (on my own bike).I think the landing is not as steep as it was for the Nat or something.
Negative ghostrider, it took the same route for nationals. The entire mountain was soaked during opening weekend and somewhat through the following weekend. If you saw it this past weekend however, you wouldn't even believe it was the same place. West coast fluffy dry dirt for days. We actually needed rain after that.Nationals course aimed you across the rocks to the left of the drop. Not one person hucked it opening weekend. It was a marsh of epic proportions.
I got dusty everywhere.....ha haI got dust INSIDE my goggles at beech. WTFantastic.
Yeah thanks, now there's going to be a monsoon. It would be awesome to have the mountain for the race next month to be as dry as it was last weekend. Scary fast loose dry fun!!
I would not expect it to be any other way. If you want to ride Beech when dry, go when there's no race. If you want it muddy come race.Yeah thanks, now there's going to be a monsoon.
It'll be dry for Saturday practice. And then everyone's practice will go out the window when it rains the morning of the race.I would not expect it to be any other way. If you want to ride Beech when dry, go when there's no race. If you want it muddy come race.
In the old days when a lot of the course there was out on the slopes, the guy who ran them was really good at using his timing system. He'd just call "Next" and you could walk right up when you felt like going. There was a group of about 5-10 of us that would hide up at the gazebo to be the last ones down the mountain. It'll be dry for Saturday practice. That place would rain Friday night and dry out bone dry by 2pm (slopes, not the woods).
Dr. Mike, conditions are prime to slightly moist. Clear skies right now, and tomorrow (Saturday) looks to be the best day of the whole weekend. Get on out!Very excited to get up there. Contemplating coming up this and/or next weekend. If folks who are there could post up re: conditions I (and I'm sure others) will appreciate it. See you on the hill!
Thanks. I think I'll hold out til there is a full green top to bottom. To take them and the missus on hardtails would be $120 to ride half of one trail. Can't take one without taking the others. As Jager said we took the paved road (think it was OZ) down to all my love because new beginner section was not complete. It looks like it will be about the same grade as All My Love once done. From there on he was good to go.
