I haven't bought a skateboard video in years, but the intro to the new Lakai vid may have sold me. This is awesome.
Jealous???!! I know I am. SOme took a class and a lot of time to use compositing and other stuff I know nothing about. I thought it was awesome.Skate vids are all like cheap porn. All packaging and intro and then the same crappy camcorder footage for filler.
But yeah I thought the same thing when I saw that intro
Still going to be a bunch of crappy fisheye follow cam through some schoolyard though. I long for the days of stacy peralta's vids.
I'm jealous of a few editing techniques I see in a few of them (like I said, mainly intros) but that's it. I think the meat of every video I've seen in the last few years is pathetic. Not color balanced, flat light, camcorder looking poop. I wasn't kidding when I implied that peralta's vids 15 years ago were more creative. The fisheye camcorder thing in the first H-street video changed the rules........not for the better.Jealous???!! I know I am. SOme took a class and a lot of time to use compositing and other stuff I know nothing about. I thought it was awesome.
That's the weirdest sentence I've ever read.I'm starting to think as a group we aren't as nice and intelligent as skaters because their sport gives back and keeps evolving in so many ways, while mountian biking always gets set back every 5 years to 1994 in terms of participation, sponsorship, TV and entertainment..
I used to be able to say that, but I'm old now.And I don't view this as an 'us' vs 'them'. Trust me. I've spent way more years on a board than a bike

I'm looking up at an orange Craig Johnson standing up on my monitor as I type this.I need to get a zorlac deck in case they go under again.
With that link Stevew posted, there is no need. I do need to get a VHS to dvd at some point because my H-Street Hokus Pokus video has worn holes into the tape from being played for 20+ years^word.
Hey you want to rip me a copy of public domain?
I can give you a copy of animal chin that might be in better shape than yours. Watching skateboarders act makes my baby jeebus cry.
WTF is wrong with you??? That was NOT acting. That was real life.<snip> Watching skateboarders act makes my baby jeebus cry.
YOU ARE GOD TO ME
I have that shirt and people ask me "Is he a Tibetan leader? Did the Chinese kill him?"
I'm not passing out neg rep, but I should. Was never a fan of the boards, but the pushead art was awesome.
Zorlac decks were super easy to break. Was never a fan of the boards, but the pushead art was awesome.
The concave was awful, they had bad flex, and the nose/tail lacked any usable shape.I'm not passing out neg rep, but I should.
btw - why no 'Big Boys'???
That crap disintegrated so badly we used to use 'bonite' as an adjective to describe something that was weak.I was always just a big ollie/big grind rider. I always land with my rear foot on the tail to be set up for another trick without moving my foot. So if a board was weak it might last me a week. Powell Bonite boards lasted, but they were mushy.
That was part of the beauty. How f*#king hardcore was it to break a deck every 2 weeks???Zorlac decks were super easy to break.
Yeah - I had that same love for G & S decks. The concave was awful, they had bad flex, and the nose/tail lacked any usable shape.
75% of my tricks were ollie based. I needed a rigid board with good shape. My Blockhead Team board was the best street board, but they were not durable because of the fiber layer between the plys.
My Jason Jesse Neptune board had hops. I got so much lift from that board, it was insane. I cleared my first trash can on that board (1987? Fu<k, I feel old now).
<edit> Same board as the "team" with different graphics.
YESSSSSSsssssss.
All you have to do is look at the North Shore to see that. Hell, of the 5 ski resorts that are in Oregon, only 2 support bikes (and they are the smallest too).Crankworx is Canada, where the sport is just growing so much faster. The fact Drop In is a televised show there illustrates how they already passed us- and "americans" started the mountain bike thing.
FYI- I hate fisheye too.
