yeah but your house doesn't have to show it!!!

One of my LARGEST complaints about houses these days if they have NO front door.

Plus I would have saved and not used brick and spent the money on a good architect.

nice... I like the arch thing - I assume that between the kitchen and dining/family/room?

If I had to do it over again, I'd build in more architectural interest.

That's not finish wood.. its good ol' #2. That makes a recessed cove in the master bedroom ceiling for some rope lighting.

Arches will feature bullnosed corners on the sheetrock.

No trees on the lot? I don't think I could live in a house that didn't have some good shade trees. My biggest complain about my house now is being build on a hill that slopes down to the south I have no really large trees that can provide full shade to the house in the summer time.

precisely. you don't have to devote ~40% of yr front house profile to a garage. or at least you shouldn't.

N8, that post you made a while back about Dwell made me search out a couple of issues. it's got a lot of ideas which i like. the cut-n-paste housing designs of today leave a lot to be desired.

I agree with you but the cost of those homes is crazy! I'd love to do away with the 9 in 12 pitches on these roofs... it makes for a huge attic space but wastes a ton of lumber.

Well this subdivision is in a huge cotton field... so no trees.

Just to let you know N8, arched door ways, brick facades, and funky wall colors do not make a house nice.
They are cheap and easy ways to sell dumb Americans.

The cheapness of the above posted lights is such a great example of the quality of the design of the above homes.

Why would you even spend a penny on thoes lights so you can feel like you have a super clean look and then they have $.0001/ft electrical wire hanging down right next to the suspension cable?
