Weren't you just summarily pwned on this whole "from above" theory in a P&WN thread?...is a gift from above.
I for one, sir, salute your efforts!Nah, I just had nothing better to do tonite than to pick on the feeble.

Im glad other people have realized this too. I have owned (and promoted) the Demo for several years now and heard nothing except "its heavy" and "its a huck bike" until this year. But this doesnt change the fact that the demo is indeed a sick race bike.Haha I love how just one year ago Demo's were constantly bashed for this that and the other thing that was wrong with them.
Now that SOMEBODY is riding one, they have mysteriously transformed into the unanimous favorite. haha
Oh and my vote is demo too. But that's cause I've had mine for almost 3 years and love it. I know some of you other dudes have had them for a while too, but its funny.
The demo of old was not quite up to par as a DH race rig. But over the last few years Big S made some tweaks (and dropped the weight) that transformed it into a fast sled. The only problem was no one in the e-world really gave it a chance until Sammy Eyebrows sat on one.I've never seen so much pro-demo sentiment. Did they dump the so-many-extra-tube design of the last 5 years and I somehow missed it? Tell me they switched over to DW link.
We all had the opportunity to e-compare them so we know what's best!I just wonder how many of You had opportunity to compare Glory 2010 to Demo 2010??
Like giant doesn't advertise Though I'd be a hard decision for me between the demo and giant. Booth nice price and have features that speak to me though booth are different so the choice should be either light weight or low and slack but heavier. All personal taste.I think that I am going to buy the bike that has the most advertising dollars thrown at it....so this year the best bike ever is going to be the demo...But I don't know I might change my mind and buy a Trek. The have alot of ads too...so they must be good. I don't know...I just can't quite decide...
On a serious note...I hope all of you can put the marketing hype aside and make a decision for yourselves...
Not everyone loves it - I hear the suspension slows down hugely on square edged hits. The demo has been getting great reviews from the people who actually rode it ever since the latest iteration appeared.
i just think it looks cooler...I just wonder how many of You had opportunity to compare Glory 2010 to Demo 2010??
thats all that matters tho right?i just think it looks cooler...
IMO the Demo absolutely slays square edges. It's hardly super heavy these days either. Isn't the team bike 38lb plus pedals out of the box ?Not everyone loves it - I hear the suspension slows down hugely on square edged hits.
The original post is comparing the 09 bikes......not the 2010's. I'd prefer the geo of the 09 over the 2010. 64 degrees and 14.5 BB is ideal numbers. 62.5 and 13.75 is just too slack and low. Although I haven't been on the 2010 demo, I love my 2008 which is identical to the 2009.IMO the Demo absolutely slays square edges. It's hardly super heavy these days either. Anyway a degree and a half off the head angle and 1/2"+ off the BB makes it a no brainer.
coming from a guy who typically likes steepish head angles.I got to demo one of the new glorys. There aren't a whole lot of bikes I've ridden where the head angle of the thing stood out completely on it's own, independent of other geo numbers. The glory did though. Crazy light bike that rides plush but still pops and pumps well.......but for some unholy reason has something like a 66 degree head angle. I have no idea what they were thinking in light of their competition but 'dh race bike' is definitely not descriptive of the feeling I got riding it. It really is too steep in my opinion.
Not really....depends on the bike. Head angles go hand in hand with some other measurements.....mostly top tube/front center measurements. If you're talking about me lowering my fork to 7" on my demo 8, that's because the bike was a little too long in the front end for me and it helped me get over the front tire easier. It still measured out to 64.5-65 degrees.....not exactly steep. When I asked the giant guys doing the demos what the catalog stated the glory HA to be, I think I remember them saying 66.5. That's just not a dh bike these days. Especially since the frames aren't particularly long for a given size.coming from a guy who typically likes steepish head angles.
Careful. When I said the same thing after testing it the RM massive got pretty upset.I got to demo one of the new glorys.
