Safer when silenced

Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) included the silencer provision as part of a broader bill, the “Sportsmen Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act,” or SHARE Act. There are several gun-related items in the package, including the silencer language. A "discussion draft" of SHARE Act will be reviewed by a House Natural Resources subcommittee on Wednesday.

NC Republican controled Senate is trying to pass a new law that repeals the need for a concealed carry permit. Yup, no training will be required any anyone can be strapped. And a couple years ago, or so, they passed a law allowing guns in bars. Yee Fuckin Haw !!

odd that states with constitutional carry (or laws very similar to such) have some of the least amount of gun violence cases in the country..

Those are actual first world countries with good education, healthcare and other social programs that prevent poverty and other causes of violent crime.

Where are you seeing that? I am going to guess those are sparsely populated states like the Dakotas and Montana.

Actually, the study above is an update to a study they conducted in 2014 which found right-to-carry laws increase firearm-related assaults. That study also found that:
Among violent crimes, the most significant increase came in aggravated assault, which may have risen by nearly 33 percent, according to the report. The researchers also found that from 1999 to 2010, murder rates rose in eight states that adopted right-to-carry laws.
The improved methodology found that:

analysis shows that violent crime in RTC states was estimated to be 13 to 15 percent higher – over a period of 10 years – than it would have been had the state not adopted the law.
and

To put the significance of a 15-percent increase in violent crime in perspective, the paper notes that “the average RTC state would have to double its prison population to counteract the RTC-induced increase in violent crime.”
Further on the topic:

Having a gun can generate a benefit under certain circumstances and will impose costs in other circumstances, and sound policy must consider the overall magnitude of these conflicting effects, Donohue said. RTC proponents often overlook how often gun-carrying leads to lost and stolen guns, which are then in the hands of criminals.

Moreover, one can incur all of the costs of buying and carrying a gun, only to find that a criminal attack is too sudden to effectively employ the gun defensively. Donohue cites a 2013 report from the National Crime Victimization Survey that showed in 99.2 percent of the violent attacks in the United States, no gun is ever used defensively – despite the nearly 300 million guns in circulation in the country today.

For most Americans, said Donohue, carrying a gun to avoid a criminal attack is similar to thinking that having a weekly brain scan will save your life, without considering the potential hazardous effects.

“If we gave 300 million people a brain scan, we would save a certain number of lives,” Donohue said. “But you wouldn’t want to advocate that treatment without considering how many lives would be lost by exposing so many to radiation damage. One needs to consider both the costs and benefits of any treatment or policy. If the net effect of more gun carrying is that violent crime is elevated, then RTC laws seem much less appealing. This paper may have an impact in making people think differently about these issues.”

Fewer people are being murdered in Australia, with the nation’s homicide rate hitting an all-time record low.

The latest report of the national homicide monitoring program reveals there were 238 homicide incidents in Australia in 2013-14 compared with 307 deaths in 1989-90.

That finding brings the national rate down to one victim per 100,000 people – the lowest since the program started in 1989.

By comparison, the United States had a murder rate of 4.88 people per 100,000 in 2015, according to the United Nations office on drugs and crime. The office said in 2014 the UK’s rate was 0.92 and New Zealand’s was 0.91.

The report, by the Australian Institute of Criminology, shows knives were the most common murder weapons, responsible for 86 deaths while beatings accounting for 37 deaths.

Guns killed 32 people, marking a 63% decline since 1989-90.
In 1989 the population was 16 million, now it's 24 million.

Because Youtube

According to a criminal complaint, 19-year-old Ms Perez told authorities Mr Ruiz wanted to make a YouTube video of her shooting a bullet into a book he was holding against his chest.

She says she fired from about a foot away and then fled the house, screaming.
