but hey, it comes with a Ipad as a owner's manual!Seems to me like they should do what everyone else does and create a second brand for their luxo models, just so you don't have to say "I drive a 60k$ Hyundai"
thats KiaYay! A new top-notch model from the cheapest cars on the planet!!
It's no different than the VW Phaeton, and will probably sell in minuscule numbers just like the Phaeton (outside of Korea, of course, where they already sell tons of them). Actually, come to think of it, it's no different than the Ford GT (lost money on every one), the Lexus LFA (lost money on every one) Veyron (lost money on every one), etc. It's a halo product, designed to raise awareness of the brand and *hopefully* sell more lower and mid-priced products.but hey, it comes with a Ipad as a owner's manual!
$60k Hyundai? joke of the year. lets see....Mercedes, BMW, Audi or Hyundai?
the Phaeton had a lot more luxury items then the Equus does and it was essentially a Audi with a VW badge on it....reclining rear seats, giant engine options, long wheelbase....It's no different than the VW Phaeton, and will probably sell in minuscule numbers just like the Phaeton (outside of Korea, of course, where they already sell tons of them). I have no idea whether Hyundai can match the high-end Germans in their luxury cars, but I'll bet good money that this will be as good or better than Lexus, Acura or Infinity...
wow, Hyundai really has you brainwashed huh?Nissan is crap, the GM of Japan.
Still have it in the USI did however notice recently (while looking at the Santa Fe on the Hyundai website), that they no longer have the 10 year warranty that they used to tout. It's back to 5 year.
yep...but only the powertrainStill have it in the US
Lol, says the person who's probably never sat in an LS, and almost definitely has never even seen an Equus in real life. You're wearing your screen name well.the Phaeton had a lot more luxury items then the Equus does and it was essentially a Audi with a VW badge on it....reclining rear seats, giant engine options, long wheelbase....
calling the Equus a "halo" project and comparing it to the LFA, Ford GT or Veryon is ludicrous. and no, it isnt as good as as a Lexus LS.
my uncle has the 2011 LS and ive driven it as well...in fact ive driven every model revision LS since 2000. the 2011 LS is a HUGE improvement over prior generationsLol, says the person who's probably never sat in an LS, and almost definitely has never even seen an Equus in real life. Just going off of what others int he idustry talk about. I don't know of any professional autobody guys that have anything good to say about Nissan.wow, Hyundai really has you brainwashed huh?
Anybody who has $60k to drop on a car is interested in some kind of status symbol. Don't kid yourself.. Not everyone wants the status symbol of a luxury brand.
I have to LAWL at the high-end hybrid market. There's a BMW x6 with hybrid and 650hp...it gets like 1 or 2 mpg higher than the NA version...All the new Lexus' I see here are hybrids, seems to be where the future lies for the high 5 figure sedan market.
Hyundai had the car at the NY Auto show in April.......2009.
try again?
Uh....IH8Rice said:the Phaeton had a lot more luxury items then the Equus does and it was essentially a Audi with a VW badge on it....reclining rear seats, giant engine options, long wheelbase....
More from edmunds:edumunds.com said:The Equus Ultimate seats four, as the rear bench seat is replaced with a pair of reclining bucket seats with heating/cooling/massaging functions and a passenger-side power footrest.
Sorry, try again?Interior Design and Special Features
If you're wondering whether a value-oriented brand like Hyundai can produce a luxury car, the cabin of the Equus will put your mind at ease. Just about every luxury and convenience feature found on a premium-badge car is available, and the quality of the design and materials is first class. It might not measure up to a European car like an Audi or Jaguar, but it matches anything you see from Acura, Infiniti or Lexus.
We particularly recommend the Equus Ultimate, a trim level that includes all the top-of-the-line features in a unique four-passenger configuration. The twin rear seats not only are both heated and cooled but also recline and offer a massage function. The passenger-side rear seat even has a power-operated footrest, though we've found in testing that it doesn't extend enough for passengers with long legs.
All navigation, climate, vehicle and entertainment information is displayed on a large LCD screen, while a knob and button array similar to the Audi MMI controls it. The climate controls consist of remarkably simple knobs and buttons. In a segment where vehicles can be hopelessly complex, the Equus does a good job of keeping its vast amount of technology manageable.
so because the autobody guys dont like them, makes them a bad car? funny because Nissan sold 81k cars last month and Hyundai only sold 44k cars. Nissan must be doing something wrongJust going off of what others int he idustry talk about. I don't know of any professional autobody guys that have anything good to say about Nissan.
Nissan also has a full line of SUVs and pickups where Hyundai does not.so because the autobody guys dont like them, makes them a bad car? funny because Nissan sold 81k cars last month and Hyundai only sold 44k cars. Nissan must be doing something wrong
thats 3000 cars a day to Hyundai's 1600
if they were bad cars as he said, the sales still wouldnt be that high.Nissan also has a full line of SUVs and pickups where Hyundai does not.
Toyota purportedly had tons of problems yet they still outsold both Nissan and Hyundai...combined. and the #3 selling vehicle in the US was one that was recalledIf their cars were better then they would be selling even more cars!
I have an Xterra and have been disappointed with the long term reliability of the truck. I thought it was just bad luck on my part, buying a lemon, but it turns out that quite a few other people with Xterras have been having the same issues. From Sensors going out, timing chains wearing out prematurely, to catalytic converters that won't last more than 30k miles.
I have three recall notices in front of me that I've received this year from Nissan. The ECU recall, the Fuel Sensor, and the Crash Zone Sensor. Wish the ECU recall woud've happened sooner before it left stranded and needed to have the car towed home.
Hmmm...Maybe I should go look at Hyundai's...
You're right...Nissan forever!Toyota purportedly had tons of problems yet they still outsold both Nissan and Hyundai...combined. and the #3 selling vehicle in the US was one that was recalled
Nissan actually is ahead of Toyota in terms of lack of recalls with their cars. FAR ahead of them.
every car company is going to have recalls.
This think is not even close to a Phaeton, that was a very special car. But I do think it will probably be on par with any Lexus. It's no different than the VW Phaeton, and will probably sell in minuscule numbers just like the Phaeton (outside of Korea, of course, where they already sell tons of them). thats called a Lemon. call your lawyer. You're right...Nissan forever!
I don't have a problem with recalls...but I do have a problem with the parts that were warrantied failing multiple times, like the ECU and catalytic converters.
Worst. Marketing. Ever.personal plate for it...

im not trying to defend Nissan or try and make someone buy one. i had a new '09 Altima and loved it and trying to get a Murano now. I also like Hyundais for the money, but a $60k big brother to the Genesis is funny.
