That's what you get for riding an IH...

You going to race SS or Whitetail in June??? We'll have a rematch

Hope the knee gets better.

Is Massanutten worth stopping by for a day on the way from Sugar (NC) to Mt. Snow (VT)? Is there technical riding? Rocks? Roots? Etc. etc.

Hi all! What a great weekend. It was my first real DH race. I think I got 12th out of 16 in the hardtail class. My time was 5:54 I believe. I didn't fall in my race run. Just kept it relaxed, steady, and tire side down.

I enjoyed the course although I wish there was a way I could have sessioned those two rocky switchbacks in the middle of the course. I never really got a good chance during practice to hit them and find my line. I was always too busy making sure that I was out of the way of the faster riders.

Not too much carnage. Somehow I toasted my rear D. It doesn't spring back and keep the chain tight anymore. I also had a spectacular crash in the finish line rock garden during practice. I have some real nice bruises to show for it.

Over all I had a great time.

Hey Cory,

Thanks for the props, John Milby was the big help this year and Chop
was last year. They both have VIP rights now. Next Time you see
Milby ask him about leaf blowing the Downhill trail & Our new cross
country trail we are building with the Shenandoah Mountain Bike Club
John could not wait to hit the shower. He does not like being dirty.

Chop & I have plans of relocating a few turns before next year to
improve the flow.

Thanks again

are you the one that went off into the drainage ditch?!! :o:

that had to hurt

Not it. That sounds like it would have sucked.

I was about 2/3 of the way down the rock garden and went OTB, bounced a couple of times, hopped back on and finished my run. I ended up with tire tracks on my helmet that match my tread pattern so somehow or another I managed to run over myself :looney:

It didn't hurt until later.

Well not exactly the way I wanted my first DH race to go but I had fun anyway! If you saw a girl hobbling around on Friday night and Saturday that was me. Friday practice, 4th run = severely sprained right ankle. The swelling hasn't gone down that much and I'm probably headed to the docs this afternoon to make sure nothing is broken.

I had a great time watching the race runs on Saturday and snapping pics. I was on the 2nd 90 degree turn near the end before the long fireroad section.

Congrats to everyone who raced! I'm hoping to be healed up soon and headed to Snowshoe sometime next month.

.

Ouch sorry to hear you got hurt. Hope it's not serious.

A guy got off the lift in front of me hopping on one foot and using his bike for a crutch. Then he jumped on his bike and rode to the start. I thought that was pretty hardcore.

He's still kinda lacking a bike. Although I did catch him searching on e-bay on Sunday.
I have always said riding DH is like being hooked on crack, once you do it once you are hooked for life. You never should have let him even pedal one around the parking lot now he is hooked

i can relate to that one.
folks don't know what dirty is, until they've spent time leafblowing trails all day.
