hell, get strip steaks if there's a grill. butcher boy is the best meat store ever.

the filets from butcher boy are just orgasmic. i want to buy myself one now.
eh, filets are filets...for real meat taste, go for the ribeye or sirloin. if you've got the prep time, flank steak is killer.

Mmm flank steak. I make a maple syrup/sea salt brine that seems to tenderize the flank meat to perfection.

I'd like to make it but that would be the 6th weekend in a row I would be away from home. Reason #2314 why work travel sucks, you just want to stay home when you can.

On a related note... Woody and Sandwich got me thinking... Would anyone be intersted in taking a day trip up to Bromont to do a little DH'ing? Maybe even Friday since we can't get into the lodge until 2pm. I think Bromont is like only like an hour, hour and a half north of East Burke. Let me know....

I thought they said it was like 2 hrs away, maybe I am wrong though. I almost want to say I would be interested but it was like an 8-9 hr drive last time...2 more hrs would kill me.

"veggie girl"....but you have to keep her busy while I'm off w/nude beach girl
Nice :thumb: Both of the double beds are spoken for  So, now I have to think about sleeping arrangements. I don't know if I have met "veggie girl" before. If she needs a new riding partner (since her's is currently mending) let me know...my girls have been bailing out on me so I have been riding solo :(

dont worry - I told her it will be bunk beds or loft

her only concern was being slow, and causing the group to wait

No worries Doug, she can hang at the back of the pack with me. :) Oh, and I'm calling dibs on the same bottom bunk I had. That way I know where to stumble to late night... :p

why ruin a good cut of meat by overcooking it? read anthony bourdain's _kitchen confidential_ sometime...it'll make you think twice before ordering a welldone steak at a restaurant ever again...

for those of us who don't plan to read the book, want to paraphrase whatever he wrote about well done steaks?

read it anyway, even if it's a rip of hunter thompson's style, it's a well done rip, and it's very entertaining.

basically it's the way for the restaurant to get rid of bad/old meat and sell it to the customer...the meat's so overcooked no one's got a clue what its original condition was.

I'm gonna go ahead and call dibs on some loft space. Falling 4" is a lot better than 8' :)
I would like to put in a request for loft space as well. NFW I am climbing into one of those triple-decker bunks after knocking out a growler of Trout River + other assorted beers.

Fine questions Douglas! I might be able to wrangle up a SMBA member or 2 as well if need be...

If I get an XC trike by then I might be in....but woodstyle is going to be in winterbike and I don't have one yet. We'll see.

Bromont was I think about 1.5-2 hours. Border crossing wasn't bad. It's not too far at all.
