look at the frame - the crank moves with the rear triangle thus no slack in the chainSweeeeeeeeet!
Are there issues keeping the chain tight on a FS, or are you going with some sort of chain tensioner?
yeah it's crazy looking at it - I'm just going to guess it will work as advertised! HAHAyeah that concentric pivot around the bb allows for singlespeededeness without a tensioner. Get her built already Mancil!
HAHA no worries - I've got more than one single speed - no dual drive hereWait a second! Two chains?! What is going on here?
Whew! my one of a kind remains.HAHA no worries - I've got more than one single speed - no dual drive here
should be ok for awhile - just picked up a sixtel keg of Magic Hat #9 and plenty of PBR!Whew! my one of a kind remains.
Looking forward to seeing the build. I have a feeling you'll LOVE that bike.
Too bad it cut into your beer budget...
made an offer on ebay for 1k - every place I found online want 1299 to 1399Chainguide not needed if you are running singlespeed. U might want a bash though.
Sweet frame! How much $ did you drop for it?
You have adjustible dropouts, so you shouldn't need a chain guide! (essentially the same as horizontal drops, but with built in tensioners!) Rooking Good!should be ok for awhile - just picked up a sixtel keg of Magic Hat #9 and plenty of PBR!
Do you think I'll need a chain guide or will I be ok without one?
Do bmx bikes need chain guides?I would think a guide might not be a bad idea - not so much for tensioning the chain but to keep the chain from jumping off the front chainring when jumping/landing. Don't you think?
Only if your chainline is not straight.I would think a guide might not be a bad idea - not so much for tensioning the chain but to keep the chain from jumping off the front chainring when jumping/landing. Don't you think?
I love that bike - what did he have to dremelAwesome thread.
The Cowan frames are that much?
A riding buddy copied me and picked up a now rare A frame for $450 new and spent another 3 weekends with a Dremel tool a building a sickass FSSS.
Edit: He's not a tall man, but has ridden all of my bike builds in the past few years with the exception of my 1x1 in the pic for obvious standover reasons...
That's what's cool about the 'A' and 'Kowan' frames!I was thinking along the lines of the chain moving during suspension travel. But if there is no chain growth whatsover then give it a go sans guide and see what happens.
I have azonic white B52s I'm just waiting on my white diety stem & and gripsDude, that is one sick machine!
White Azonic Strip Bars are cheap and awesome.
