I bought the frame (lightly) used, and it came with the Elka. If I was buying new, I'm sure I would have just stuck with the RC4.

Only one day on it so far, and with so much other new stuff (this is my first "real" DH bike with a DC fork, etc), it's hard to isolate and make a comparison of the Elka to any other shock I've ridden at this point.

Certainly no complaints. It feels bottomless and well controlled, but I can't say more than that.

Its great to see so many dropper seatposts on DH bikes. Years ago I got so much crap for it on my 951. Dropper posts are awesome!

I'm pretty happy with a 33lb 10inch travel bike..haha I could cut weight with a different cassette, throw on my ti flat pedals and maybe a couple little things here and there but is a solid build and I don't have to worry about breaking anything. Once the carbon rear end model comes out I'll be upgrading to that.

Yeah I am set up tubeless. Going to try the new Continentals when they become available. Suppose to be lighter than the Minions. The saddle is ok. I had a Ritchey WCS Carbon Streem on my old v10 (same color as yours) but I wrecked and snapped the rails and this is the same weight but much cheaper to replace. Before switching cranks and chain guide I had a set of Truvativ Descendants and the E13 LG steel guide and it weighed in right at 34lbs

^ I gotcha. Thanks. Im not looking to have a super light build, but would wanna be in the 36, hi-35 range. With my wheelset Im not gonna drop a lot from switching cranks, saddle and handlebar. Pretty excited to make a couple more changes and Im set.

Since I wont be riding DH anytime soon due to the knee injury, I picked up a bike from Simon Lawton (fluidride) mostly for the parts, but i'm going to give this thing a shot until the uprising arrives. The DB arrives tomorrow.

I just did the same thing; an XL in that color at that price was a no brainer.
My wife was thrilled.

I was just informed yesterday that I have been slacking in the "post pictures of my 2013 ride" department. I blame the passing of Colorado Amendment 64, but I digress. Here's some moar pics of the new wHip as she gets builded:

We have arrived at maximum jiggyness:



At this very moment, the front triangles are off at the welder/powdercoater having their metals glued together with Teh Lightning. So stoked to (hopefully) get a sneak peak at the frames when they return. Rear triangle tubes are being notched and fitted and will head to said welder next.

Ha ha, I was also going to make a Spinal Tap reference about "Nigel Tufnel approved" colors.
The first production batch will probably be in the Spring time.

I wouldn't post too many pics of that frame, it will make the Banshee owners very unhappy.

I think I'm going back to a hardtail for 2013, have only ridden DH once in the last year, such a poor effort.

A'ight, this will probably be the last post before the final build is done seeing as I've taken up a LOT of room in this thread. Hopefully ya'll don't mind too much... ;) These should be done the week after T-Gives, and my plan is to do a time lapse video of the final build, plus pictures of the complete bike. Progress so far:

I've already posted it nearly everywhere, but what the heck! ;)

So, I've just finished rebuilding the bike for 2013:)

Surprisingly, even though, the frame is rad heavier, the bike is still 14,82kg :) Or maybe my scale broke down and doesn't show anything else!? :D





Some numbers:
wheel base: ca. 1170mm
BB height: 345mm
TT horizontal: ~555-560mm

Just built up a new Rune 2, fresh off the factory floor here on the ROC. Had the opportunity to watch these frames being made first-hand a few weeks ago, and I'm really impressed with how much the guys at Banshee have stepped up their game these past few years.
