I am so doing that with the stairs to my basement once the kid is old enough.
even better - pop some suitcase handle holds in the ceiling too. throw some old mattresses down and you have yourself a cave. had that set up in college in my house, moved it to the attic at the next place, then a garage... and now i have little kids and dont have time to climb anymore so the holds sit in a box and i weep over it occasionally.
