RM, have I posted a racist comment yet? No, I am just asking questions of those that would fire up the torches when they see the first ideological Frankenstein.

If you are going to ban people, might I ask you do it of your own free will, not on the suggestion of anyone who has responded to this thread, myself included. We're all too volatile, too sure we're right, to be anywhere near the truth.

Like my father used to say, "common sense ain't all that common."

So would you then be in favor of banning porn because it bothers the christian coallition? Or about about images of Jesus because it offends groups of people that don't buy into him. Or, how about banning christmas? or haunnaka (sp?), or bubble gum, or peanuts.

You start banning things, and you start down a very dark road where I can assure you that a very small group gets to set standards that will throw up walls around everything. You may want that world, but I don't.
ok so Disney Kids Chat should allow porn (and perhaps pedaphile trollers), because otherwise we'll slip down that slippery slope.....

Your dad was right, common sense isnt all that common....

Just remember this when you're banned from your favorite trail, or when someone shows up to tell you that you've thought the wrong way.

You're not asking questions, you're suggesting that I allow racist remarks on my site. For the last time, it's not going to happen, drop it.

I make my own decisions, don't worry.

I try not to think, linear or not, it gets me in trouble.

I'll go back to posting rides and trails, get into the rank and file, let the dildo lunch bunch run things for us.

What's Tattooo's issue? If I owned a website for people to discuss bikes, I would be mad and warn/suspend/ban anyone who made racist comments or posted porn. I own the site, I am its god.

Yes you have free speech, as someone here said if you love your freedom to make bigoted comments about other people then start your own bike forum where people are free to name-call.

edit: You're not getting into rank and file, you're being a nice person.

Oh my god, all RM is saying is he can ban people from a private web site and you say that I should remember this mindset when a trail is getting shut down? Wow. :stosh: Why would I care if someone tells me I think the wrong way? I'm open minded, I'm just saying that in no way do the actions of the owner of a private site parallel public trail closures or someone elses opinions.

You can't be serious...am I being Punk'd? Ashton is that you?

I'm not going to randomly ban people for having different opinions, I said specifically racist remarks. USE YOUR HEAD.

Why not allow people to protect themselves? One group gets bothered, allow them to stand on their own. The model you're using, jumping in for one group or another, is what starts more **** like this then anything else.

Screw it, gonna go ride my hand.

Yup, because banning inflammatory content on a family oriented site and riding illegal trails is the same thing.

You can ride trails all you want on your own land, you can post stupid crap all you want on your own site. You have no control over anything else and no law will protect you.

Ok, let's look at this analogy.

I believe the biking community at large plays a vital role in policing itself to help keep trails open. When people act lame on the trails and endanger other trail users, this hastens the process of trail access being denied to all riders, not just the idiots.

We all need to call other riders on their BS, and act as ambassadors to the sport when we're out there.

Same thing applies to a GROUP and COMMUNITY situation here on RM. When someone gets way out of line, they get called out, and then possibly banned if they annoy enough people.

It's common sense and the common good.

I apologize if being an ass-troll is defined by standing up for unpopular speech, but its what I gotta do.
If this site had the US constitution as it's directive's, then your issues would have merit. But this is a private and non-USA forum. Your consitutional rules do not apply. You are trolling and are now on my ignore list.

None of us care what you think or do not think. None of us are going to tell you what to think or not to think.

RM and his minions will tell us what is acceptable to post and not to post, and if you cannot figure that out, they will make it evident.

I know what you are arguing about saying what you want. Just use some common sense and respect, and nothing you post will ever be censored.

Hmmm you've got a point. I should probably open a forum for racists here. While I'm at it, I should probably open one for rapists...it really wouldn't be fair if they couldn't stand up for themselves either.

Screw it, gonna go ride my hand.
What does that even mean?

I was just thinking of my visit to Dachau around '92. Never have I been in such a haunted place.

It was startling to see how fertile the land was around the trench where they used to execute people by firing squad. The blood of thousands made the flowers and the trees grow much more dense and lush in that spot.

I suggest everyone with a soul or a conscience visit a place like that at least once your life.

Yeah, some people get touchy over genocide. Go figure.

My favorite part about it all is the guy "defending" freedom of speech has an avatar with a picture of a fat guy holding what appears to be a rifle or a shotgun. How quintessentially USA is that?

I think so. When looking at someone else's society (for example Canadian society), who do you think you notice first?

a) The guy who is wearing a suit, drinking a coffee, and talking on his cell phone.

or...

b) The Eskimo who just got back from the annual polar bear slaughter and is sitting outside of his igloo ice fishing.

In this case, the gut-toting, grinning, fat man takes the cake.

It's the standouts that stand out.
