Yup, that's me and that was as close as I got to the snake. I remember being glad you wanted to stop and take pictures so I could rest. That is still the only ride were I've had to climb up a tree to get my bike after a crash.

Jesus, that was '02 and the first time I rode w/ you and Rams.

Hey...that is the picture I was asking about recently. It was the inside of Bike Mag back then. The contents page!! That photo of yours has stuck in my memory for years. Something impossible to snap in a planned setting!

So did those guys know it was going across the trail when you took the pic? I was told at one point that the photog had gone to take a whiz and spotted it as he was coming back but didn't tell the others until after the photo?

Haha! Actually the story goes... We were climbing up Black mt. in Pisgah. I was bringing up the rear and when I caught up to the guys they had all stopped. My buddy Brian comes walking back to me and says something like " you gotta see this snake in the middle of the trail". First thing I do is start digging for my camera as I'm walking towards it.

It was May and kinda cool that day so the snake wasn't very active. It just layed there posing while I got a few shots off. I bet on this last shot I got within 3 feet of it. Once done and seeing it was in no hurry to get off the trail, I took a stick, picked it up and tossed it probably 20 feet off the trail while the others stood there like little girly men.:biggrin:

oh yes...i had plenty of paint left over so i did his big bike too :D besides, the original paint job was getting pretty worn out. I'll probably have to redo the paint job when it dries out 'cause the humidity kept it from hardening like i wanted it. it'll hold for this weekend though.

An old shot from when we first built the trail. Shows the spot the other shots are from (right before going under the tree) a lot better. Its super tight and off camber with mad roots. It came out real nice and tech now that its been laid down for a few months.

Blindly running into cactus
today was noah/dad day so he decided on a street ride at UNCG. he's getting so much stronger now and can do a true street ride without having to stop at every spot to rest and he's not pushing up any hills.....but of course he has to stop and hit EVERY stairset he sees ;)

i had plenty of time to take pics at the last local bmx race tonight after i busted my wrist. friggin singlespeed setup...chain popped again and threw me OTB. going tomorrow for xray.
in the meantime...look what i missed.
STACKED cruiser class. andy D smoked it and stephen luke placed as well :thumb: yay for cycletherapy :clapping:
