Aye,

Blinder of a performance - sticking Hill by a second on a short, tech track, in worsening conditions... totally unbelievable. I love World Cup racing, it's going to be so close this year!

He is the MAN. And today, he pulled a decisive victory, against worsening track conditions and all that. Just adding to the legend.

Congrats to him indeed.

BTW. From the ppl available were the conditions really worsening (ie. it was more slippery or did it just rain a bit more?) Also did he run different tires than other riders? I'm very curious how the hell it happened as winning with all the tech guys on a track that teoreticly wouldn't suit him is trully mindblowing.

that sort of track has always suited Peaty (Les Gets, Val de Sol, Snoqualmie . . . anything steep and tech). The guys on the podium were all among the last 6 down the hill so same conditions for all. Peaty just killed it this weekend; convincing win in qualies and again in finals.

Did anyone else get the impression he was hanging it out a bit more than he has been the past few years, looked like he was truly going for the win rather than a podium. He also takes a tremendous amount of pride of beating the French in France

Looked like he was on his usual worlds pace (which is out of his mind)...but he stayed up.

[cough]girls drink[/cough] ;)
For some reason the most shops arond where I stayed carried Stella, Fosters and Zywiec (which shares it's name with another polish brand of WATER for a ****ing reason...). It's good that around here we have all the German and Czech beers we want ;)

yeah i got that impression, even in interviews over the last season or two i got the impression that he was just happy enough to be still be racing and getting podiums.. today was the steve peat of old, battering down the course.. and why not? he has nothing to prove and nothing to lose.

I think it's hard to argue against him being the greatest ever. Sure Nico was amazing but was he just ahead of his time in terms of preperation and technology ? Also where was Nico in those races last year ? I know he's had a big layoff but he never stopped riding and he simply wasn't competitive. Peaty won World Cups back when Nico was racing and he's beating the likes of Hill, Gee and Greg NOW.

Beer or no beer, a phenomenal athelete.

Until someone gets 11 World Champs then the argument is sorta I dont know. But there has not been 10 years of dominance like Nico had period. At age 16 his times would of had him in 1st. Peat is awesome and was racing with Nico but beat him rarely.

when nico raced champery last year, in qualification he was fifth and he passed four or five guys that were in his way on the track.
I wouldn't call that not competitive.

Great to see Peat on the Top Step!
Been a fan since his MBUK days, way back, and I am so happy to see him get this result.
Here's hope for a World's Victory in 09 or 10.
I'll be tipping a few tonight in his Honor.
Cheers!

Not worth comparing Peaty and Nico, they're both legends. However, Nico's resume is pretty remarkable when you consider he retired at the age of 26!

Peat is gravity racings GOAT...
he races 4x, slalom, rides down volcanos with Hans Rey, wins with wife and kids, does it for the fans, still can smile and walk around pits with a retarded busted ankle, is a good friend, can weld copper plumbing, he is just the bees knees.

peaty's part in The Tipping Point is incredible too...my favorite part of the movie!

He's shredding trail with all the groms he brought up into World Cup ranks (bryceland, fairclough, beaumont etc). who else has done that? PEATY RULES!
