And for anyone wondering, yeah the C8 absolutely killed it. Newbie driver never autoXed before and by the end of the day he is 2 seconds off the leaders. Due to the pax (handicap) it didn't win anything in it's class...but still damn fast making quick work of the course. Actually, it was half a second behind me and 4th in novice now that I look at the results.

The results say the class of the C8 is "SM". I'd have to go look that up in the rule book to know what it means. Mine is "BS", which is "B-street" category.

I don't know man, I got a soft spot for stingrays.

Also looking at the timeline of "shit my parents owned when I was a kid" there's a pretty high probability I was conceived in one.
last year corvettes looked good....

keep old car: $0 purchase, continued gas and maintenance, although next to nothing now working from home

buy new ev: 50-150% annual salary, LOL wut

also......we're just doing the thing again

I can tell you from directly seeing it myself in places I've gone to camp and enjoy the stars for years, this is not good. NV is about to start looking like wyoming does with gigantic open pit mine bullshit. I'm all for dropping petroleum, but I'm even more for americans sitting their fatasses down and not driving and flying all over the god damn place just as a matter of "gee, honey, let's go look at this thing in the brochure".
Have often had similar thoughts. An EV would be nice, but where the hell am I even going? I drive places on the weekends, sometimes. How about letting the delivery trucks convert to EV.

I'm going to the Ford F-150 Lightning road tour event this afternoon. 'tis but a mile away from me so I might OneWheel there so as to avoid any possible parking hassles.

SM is probably Street Modified, which implies that they have something non-OEM on there. Wider than stock wheels, perhaps? Otherwise it should go to Super Street, formerly Super Stock (?).

So your Camaro is a SS 1LE V8? 4-banger goes to DS, V6 to FS, ZL1 1LE goes to SS.

Yeah, that's right, I remember him mentioning it was modified and I think at one point someone said street modified for it's class.C8 guy owns two C8s, a GT500 and who knows what else.

Back when I used to autocross Street Modified was dominated by shelled out 1992-1995 Civic hatchbacks with big ol' turbos on their little engines. When R-comps are equal between all parties thus limiting what power one can put down effectively having a super lightweight base to work with does the trick.

Hurry up and buy one, get bored with it, and sell it to me so I can lowball the shit out of you. Considering I'll never afford a new one, it's really your moral obligation to the environment to get more EVs out there. I mean, we read your epiphany. I'm not sure you have much choice.

Availability is another issue, but the contractor trim level one, the F-150 Lightning Pro, is really priced aggressively.

$40k pre credits, so net price of $32.5k nationwide, $28.5k or $27.5k depending on ultimate GVWR in CO. For a new, crew cab, 4x4, half ton pickup, super cheap running costs aside, that's insanely cheap.

If I get one I'll sell it to you in a few years for $30k, deal? :D

They are aiming for the meat of market. SuperCrew 5.5' bed 4x4 is the only configuration thus far. Note the new frame with IRS as well! (but still decent payload and towing, battery capacity limited clearly)

Ill wait till they make a truck.

And peer pressure you into working out the bugs under warranty for a year.

I would love to replace my 9 mpg 7.5l (farm) work truck with an ev. Availability aside the other problem is gonna be price. A wonton 4by cab on frame will probably cost 100k by time they hit the market.

Started seeing the new polestars around. Nice-looking car. Heard about the tight/always on google integration and it’s a hard pass.

Ah, so another device to listen to our conversations and tailor ad suggestions accordingly. Won't be able to use built in navigation without sitting through a 15 second ad first.

4th overall today. 1st was a built Evo, 2nd C8, 3rd Legend race car. Last of the season (thought last week was the last). We got to use the oval, the parking lot and the drag strip.
