Gatineau?I haven't posted photos in a while... I stopped riding with my phone since discovering I'd smashed the glass back earlier this summer. Riding packless has it's disadvantages...
But I rode my favourite loop last night with a couple of buddies, one of whom brought his along for the ride.
This is the tech stuff I love to ride:

there's a high-speed chundery straight that leads into a sweeping left hander which spits you out into this mess of washed out trail and roots. You have to either ride it super slow, and super fast, there is no in between. love it.

Yup. though it's officially a hiking-only trail. There's a very popular lookout just below that spot, and the NCC has poured tons of $ into "rehabilitating" the trail up to that point (i.e. lots of gravel to flatten things out). But it's just way too steep with too many creeks that cause runoff beyond that point to try. I think. With the NCC, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it a shot though. Gravel all the trails seems to be their moto.Gatineau?
If that was around here there would be an outcry that the trail is too eroded and difficult for anyone to ride or hike.
Looks fun!
And they don't help with the overcrowding issues, by making it even more accessible.Gravel trails are the worst to bike or hike.
Washington has a recreational zero liability law. Landowners aren't responsible for any unpaid recreational activities on their property. Not only does this open up a lot of land for use, it allows for more fun and technical trails.View attachment 163087
This sign now greets you at every entrance to our intown ravine trail system.
Word from the chief builder is that permission has been revoked by both land owners due to liability concerns. It has been getting a lot more traffic in the last few years from all user types. Nobody has been seriously hurt that I am aware of.
This sucks.
Vermont also...Washington has a recreational zero liability law. Landowners aren't responsible for any unpaid recreational activities on their property. Not only does this open up a lot of land for use, it allows for more fun and technical trails.
This is why I carry along a ~$100 Canon cheapy P&S camera. Way less fragile than my phone, and when/if they die, they are so much cheaper and easier to replace.I haven't posted photos in a while... I stopped riding with my phone since discovering I'd smashed the glass back earlier this summer.
Ahh that is a good spot. I remember they had some good food there too.
Blame the aggressive suppression of small wildfires first.Lots of smoke haze today. Are folks ready to do something about climate change yet?
That is part of the problem, but when a forest hits 118 degrees bad shit is going to happen.Blame the aggressive suppression of small wildfires first.
white currant > red currant >>> black currantThe berries are Red Currants. You know they are safe to eat because they are bright red. That right there is nature saying "this is safe to eat for sure!".
Or "this right here will kill you!"You know they are safe to eat because they are bright red. That right there is nature saying "this is safe to eat for sure!".
