I am probably doing a piss-poor job asking this, but on the way to my GF's house, there is a big hill up to a stop sign and its pretty steep, usually what will happen is ill be driving 35, it will shift down to 2nd right as i get near it, and ill just drive up it with minimal gas until i slow down, the problem is that while i do this, eventually it wont want to hold 2nd, so it will shift down to first as im slowing down(as hill gets steeper) It will eventually "pop" into first violently. (as a 5000lb truck slows to a stop on a 45 degree hill) The only other way i can avoid this, is to rip up the hill, than hit the brakes right at the top, so there is no pressure on the tranny, however, this wont work when there is traffic, and ends up being borderline dangerous. What can i do to make the truck not ram 1st so hard, i figure if it keeps doing this, it will eventually cause a problem, its only happened a few times so far, but i can see exactly what/why it will do it.
Toyo tundra '10 6 speed auto (with a fake 6 speed sport mode) 5.7 engine, 4wd (using in 2)
While your at it, any advice for accelerating on bumps, gas is so touchy and first is so short that ill often end up "hopping" as the truck gets pissed off at the bumps on the shift points.
Insert all gas pedal or ken blockhead jokes as well
