The problem I see the two set of rules and standards one for the “inner-circle” and a completely different set for the rest of us. The amount of censorship on this forum is absolutely mind boggling like I said earlier any hint of disagreement or controversy is quickly stamped out by the moderators.

seriously though. i dont think it is like that at all. its just when someone like hello kitty drags stuff over from bitch-n-mone slam fest forums to here. most forums are peoples hobby or whatever and are allowed to run wild in whichever direction they desire. If that is what you want, then that is cool. But conversly when every other post you make has a link to another forum with a thread bashing someone, sure its gonna get deleted. thats how life is. as for feeling unwanted im sorry you feel that way. i have never once felt that way and i didnt know a single person on here when i first logged in to this site. taking the time to get to know the people on here is most important, coming on here to stalk and bash someone like hello kitty is doing is just lame and notthe point of this site.

no one came to this board with 1000 posts already in their pocket. well, except for Acadian perhaps , as he racked them all up from 3-5 am on the first night he joined. anyway, my point is that we all were newbies here once, and those who stuck around stuck around by choice. if you're not down with the "feel" of ridemonkey (talking about the board here, sheesh ) then more power to you. don't rag on it as if you're the ultimate arbiter of friendliness, however, as many before you have come to the opposite conclusion.

Thomas Frischknecht's olympic race mt.bike did you know that thomas used tri-geek carbonfiber tubular rims (see photo) and tubular mtb tires (sorry i can't recall the brand but i think they are a offshoot of the tufo cyclocross tires) when he raced this bike in the 04 olympics this bike is to be around 17Lbs

scott scale 10 carbon fiber mtb 19Lbs stock and at $5200 we got a couple racers here in texas that have inquired about getting one (the road bike is a work of art!) and currently no one has them in the country till after the new year, i can hardly wait till they get one so i can check it out (ride) and at $2000 for the frame alone (cheap for a 2.3 Lbs carbon mtb frame) it is mighty tempting to get one of these for my own.



from what i gather most of ya'll are in to XC riding and racing thing on here but pain + speed = fun if you have't at least tried racing once then your missing out.

yeah it was pretty cool to have the norba nationals here in Texas where we take our racing pretty serious folks form Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma who come down to our 9 race series are always impressed with our caliber of racers. If you race in Texas and don’t have a trainer/coach then your not serious everyone I know has a program/plan and put in some serious miles.

The national was a surprise to the norba folks who were knocked out from our Texas hospitality I went and visited some of the booths and the mechanics and pros that I spoke with were really overwhelmed from everyone being so nice, heck that’s just the way we do things here.

The only downer was many of the teams didn’t show because they budget for both their XC and DH/DS teams and since we didn’t have a DH/DS race a lotta teams were not here. I think that will change this year we have an killer course for the national.

I got about 200+ photos from the time trial, crit and actual cross country race I could post some of them here. As for as my self I did the 62 mile marathon race it was cool starting with tinker and dave wiens and others however the marathon race chewed up my legs for the amateur races 36 hours later and I totally got my ass…errrrrr…butt kicked royally in the mens sport 35-39 class.

That is SO true... We have a local boy who rides in the Texas Cup races... he came away with 3rd in the totally insane Single Speed Open class in the spring. He came in 6th in the Fall cup series which ain't all that bad when you consider he's 3rd in the Arkansas Single Speed standings.

yeah the single speed class guys regularly set lap times faster than the fastest sport class riders because of this they send those guys off first so they won’t start lapping the later starting classes. Although I have a SS bike I don’t ride it much except off season, however I’ve done TWO single speed races for a goof and it’s amazing how many geared racers you can catch.

This last TMBRA race in Ruston, La all the local SS hotshots came out of the wood work and really laid the wood to some extremely fast Texas boys. We have some SS nut cases that race cyclocross on their single speed mtb and or converted cyclocross bikes and manage to finish in the top 5 heck...the last cyclocross race i did earlier this month i was battling it out with some guy on a SS CX bike for 30min. out of a 45min. race the ONLY thing that saved my butt from him beating me was i had some gears i could stomp on at the really bitter end but that guy was STRONG nonetheless...

i don't pay much attention but i don't really notice much excessive moderating. When i first got here i thought some guys had an itchy trigger finger but i haven't noticed anything worth griping over lately.
i dunno it's a website to talk about bikes, meet people, tell tall tales, hook up for rides, get info. This place is a tool and a great medium to warn people the perils of moss and the many benefits of 12 grain bread.

I worked/currently ride for a shop that has had scott for awhile (Like all of 04...)

Oh yes, and 24 Hour>XC racing. I'm a convert. XC blows compared to 24H and Marathon.

Mr.Splat you are correct I had no previous intentions whatsoever to join ridemonkey.com I’ve got my plate full with a stressful job, training for our spring racing season, wasting way too much time on 5 other cycling forums and of course other life obligations yada yada yada…

What got me over here to check things out was the thread started by the person formally known as “loco-gringos” where he asked the question about how long this tool (hello kitty) would last? I let it run it’s course till I jumped in with my reply and summarily was gang tackled from the get go.

I understand completely about the “double standard” and find it humorous at the amount of anti-hello kitty posts that came from my first post therefore positioning myself as so-called troublemaker.

The problem I see the two set of rules and standards one for the “inner-circle” and a completely different set for the rest of us. The amount of censorship on this forum is absolutely mind boggling like I said earlier any hint of disagreement or controversy is quickly stamped out by the moderators.

The entire reason I like going to forums is to engage in discussions and ideas and YES that sometimes does lead to debate which can get quite emotional that’s just life…deal with it. If you want me to be a valuable contributor it would be nice to know that when ever the conversation starts getting interesting I won’t be censured by a moderator who doesn’t agree with my or someone else’s stance for their own personal reasons.

Like my little Aesop fable I posted… "Please all, and you will please none."

If mods deleted stuff just because they didn't agree with the poster's point of view, there would be a LOT of people on here with NO posts.

why not let the threads stand for themselves rather than have the "moderator" decide? if it's a good thread it will stay active and the top of the page if it's not like always the bad threads normally do sink fast down the page and are soon forgotten, this delete and lock the threads mentality just to kill them is just silly.

The biggest part of this is due to sponsors for the site. They don't like to see fighting and cursing. If they pull the ads, RM has to foot the bill. I know all this, because I was once a bigger pain the rear than I am now. I am trying to be cool, as are the other peeps that have been in trouble. Here it would be real cool if everyone chilled out. We have plenty of other spots to bash. Maybe I should have posted my helpful link here and my trash talk on TS. Just putting it in perspective for you. We really have no right to be here.

The biggest part of this is due to sponsors for the site.

Finally something logical outa you the entire reason that we started teamsmack.org was from the pressure of the promoters on the tmbra.org forum and the flak that they were getting from the series sponsors at the time from Subaru the main sponsor for the Texas Mountain Bike Racing Series.

Apparently some one from Subaru went on the tmbra.org website and forum and noticed the daily flame wars and thought, “do we want to back this nonsense?” shortly after the so called “smackers” were asked to cease and desist the sarcastic banter by the forum moderator. Although highly entertaining it painted the entire tmbra organization with a bad brush.

Therefore the birth of http://www.teamsmack.org five short years ago. The rules are pretty simple no explicit porn and we edit the curse words out (not that we don’t like porn and cussing it’s a work related issue to keep your I.T. nazis off your ass) however everything else goes only the strong survive if you can’t take the abuse tough any sign of weakness is exploited to the fullest extent, No thread locking and no moderation is required the threads stand on their own merit or die quickly.
