I paid $1.78 yesterday for regular but most of the stations up the road are about $1.85.

The little Suzuik Swift I commute in is really puts a smile on my face when a fill up is still only $12 - $13 (getting 40 mpg) and I see all the giant vehicles paying $50 - $60

Hmmm... let me guess. Don't understand how "inflation adjusted" figures work, eh? Here's a bit more:

"Adjusted for inflation, the 1990 price is $55.76 a barrel today. The record is $40.42 in October 1990, equivalent to $57.95 now.

The record inflation-adjusted gas price is $1.417 in March 1981, equivalent to $2.921 today." - USA Today

The concept behind peak oil is that at some point we will reach the point where production has reached a maximum, then production will start to diminish and the price to extract that oil will begin to rise. Finally, there will be little oil left and the cost will be exorbitant.

That dude may just be trying to sell a book, but the concept is real.

Between a rock and a hard place.
Luckilly the cheapest gas in the Bay Area is about 3 blocks from my house at roughly $2.05 for regular unleaded.

The average seems to be about $2.30 or so. Apparently there is a Cheveron in the Marina in S.F. that is charging over $3.00

I am from Maine where it is around 1.90 a gallon but I am in School in NY where it is 2.00. By th mid summer gas prices are gonna soar. Today the price of the stock went up for a 13 yera high. Doesn't look good. We will have Europe gas prices soon!

Stop whinin.. you chose to drive a gas monster. Still want that H2 for her? ;)

That's some mad price though. 87 octane is around $2.19 here at arco, so I'm guessin 91 is at least 2.39. Did you know your mpg goes up somewhat if you tailgate semis?

$4.09 for 85 octane here, 20 miles away I can get it for $3.91
Doesn't that nullify the savings? Unless you are filling large tubs to bring home and stuff.

I remember my cheaper than me friend in high school used to drive like an hour each way to save $.10 a gallon. He wasn't good at the whole concept of math.
