What about your car?
my car takes me to the hill/trailhead...need something reliable. If there is ONE place you don’t want to break down, it’s on the way to N* after Auburn. Its only 2 years old and has over 45 thousand miles on it. Also it’s not like I ride a super luxurious car.

PS: and why is my car important? when I move to Cali, it was my HOME for over 2 years...

Very nice Luc.
Your photos look much better than mine. Get it built up so we can check it out.
Here's an Imron yellow one that belongs to TurnerRider (?) who posted it on MTBR. I photoshopped the fork decals to match.

Is that a US built frame? I know some people have the Taiwanese frames already.
in the 2nd photo you can see "Kinesis USA" on the bb shell.

dave, did you spec the bb shell chainguide mounts? or was yr involvement w/ the bike solely suspension-related?

I fully agree:

My jeans go through stages.

1: Good, dinner-out jeans.
2: Good enough for class jeans.
3: My girlfriend has taken notice jeans.
4: Biking jeans.
5: Painting jeans.
6: Daisy-dukes.

Another smart thing to do is buy jeans that are as dark as possible that way it takes longer for them to get to that 80's acid-wash-white colour.

Avids are post mount, same as hayes. The adapters are interchangeable

yes. I got both an FSA and Truvativ. Decided to get one as a backup - but the FSA is considerably lighter than the Truvativ.

I have both 185 and 203 rotors - I think I'm just going to use 203 for now (front and rear). if it ends up being too much power on the back, I might try the 185, but I doubt I'll have to switch.

For my BoXXer I simply need a BoXXer adaptor. Like buildyourown said, all you need is the proper adaptor. If you want the exact models (Adapters) I can check when I get home tonight.

Is the FSA you have 83x128mm or 85x133mm? FSA told me they only sell the 83x128mm OEM and all of the distibutors I checked only have the 85x133mm.

The FSA 85x133 BB actually measures up to a 130mm spindle. This will work 100% fine. This is what is currently in my bike and is what the Mad Catz team ran all last season. This BB is being phased out and being replaced with the 83x128.

Truvativ, Shimano, & Race Face also make BB's in this size. Actually I am fondling a set of Diablous cranks w/ an 83mm BB right now :p

When I talked to FSA they said they would get the 83x128 later on but that only IH has received them in the US.

Salami you can get the Truvative Giga Pipe directly from Truvative in 83x128 that is where I got mine.

great stuff!
finally some quality detail pics as well.

i do find the rear swingarm construction pretty weird.

Specially the 2 vertical struts, they're not linked near the linkage on top, and in the bottom they're connected to this little cnc bit with seemingly tiny welds. The chainstays seem burly allright, but is the whole rear end laterally stiff?

When comparing with M3 and V10 construction, these are bulky in that area:

Luc, do you know how much lighter? I was going to get the Truvativ but if the weight savings are enough I will get the FSA.

83x128mm - got it from an OEM dealer. (don't ask ;))
I wonder who that is?? :D

I know. The shop I am getting my frame from ordered them back in January.

Yea, I understand how the avid mounts work. My question was basically wondering if you use a 6" adaptor for 8" brakes, or if you use the standard 8" adpator. I know some DH bikes space the mounts out more so that you dont need a huge adaptor when runnin 8" brakes.

I was thinking the same thing. Not the old "looks flexy" but it does look like it should be a little more beefy. What do i know anyway, I want some ride reports.

3oz, eh? I may have to get the FSA then.

I have a combo set up question that both you and Ska Todd can probably help with.

Luc what weight springs are you going to run front and rear? If I remember correctly you weigh about 145lbs, correct?

I weigh a bit more at 155lbs plus clothes, armor, Camelback, helmet, etc. I am guessing I would weigh in about 170lbs total. What combo of springs should I run (05 Boxxer Team and 17" Sunday)?

I am thinking I MAY be need to use 250lb spring in the rear and will probably need to change one spring to Soft spring in the Boxxer. What do you think?

Also is RCS the only company that has a 3.0" by 250lb spring? If so I guess I would HAVE to buy a Ti spring. :D

I am trying to sort out the spring rates by the first week of May and I don't even have it yet.

I gained a bit this winter - I'm just a tad shy of 155lbs now.

The bike comes with a 275lbs spring. If you have to go lighter than that, then yes Ti is pretty much your only option. I'm going to chat with the progressive guys at Sea Otter and see what they suggest. 275# might work, but I might need a lighter spring - too early to tell.

My 2005 BoXXer is set up with 2 Silver (soft) springs.

TWO? Is the 155 with all your gear?

Damn! How stiff are the stock springs? According to the owner's manual soft, soft/soft is for a 120-140lb rider.
