My two favorite tires are the Maxxis Minion and Kenda Nevegal at those same parks. I like the 2.5" in both, though the Nevegal runs a bit wider than the Minion.
Another strong vote for black creek. Rooms are top notch and affordable. Only down side is the distance from the lift. You'll probably want to drive up to the base parking area. Not a big deal.

Guys...the lack of a berm before the Tempest rock drop is what makes it fun. Master the flat land turn and you'll be just fine.
