I've always hated vettes, because you see one on every street corner. To meet they've never been anything special. I've read debate after debate on this new Z06, and I have to admit it's growing on me. Somebody slap me for saying that.

Corvette is the working mans supercar. It certainly loses some sexiness when compared to it's European stablemates. But for the same price of a Ferrari you could get a Corvette and about 50 really really nice bikes. Or the way I look at it I can go slower in my Subaru and have 8 nice bikes for the same price as the Corvette.

Don't confuse the Corvette with a muscle car. They do try to make it do more than go in straight lines, at least the modern ones.

For anyone who file-shares with Kazaa or the like, do a search on C6 corvette + Top Gear (the brit auto mag). They hate everything american on that show. They hated the corvette. Then their driver took the car for some hot-laps on the track that they test all of their cars on. The corvette was somewhere near the top 5 overall. Bested only by supercars costing 4 times as much.

As far as the “bang for your buck” the Chevrolet Corvette is THE hands down winner when you go up against the supercars that all of you are mentioning yeah there are faster cars but at what price? Hell if you really wanna get real the Saleen S 7 kicks everyones ass.

hands down the fastest and most wicked car that i have had the privlege to ride shotgun is the 1970 Hemi Cuda that a neighbor down the street owned he was the original owner and had the car in storage most of the time. being the young buck that i was i did a double take when i saw him out working on it one afternoon after having me drool all over the car and ask a million questions he finally asked if i wanted a ride. we took it out to some warehouses and he let the hammer down SH*T!!!! i had foot prints on the firewall and my hands were glued to the dash as this muther would snap my neck from the torque. the guy just laughed as i had the scared sh*tless look on my face as the end of the street came upon us faster than i had expected.

although i've owned some fast cars since then none of them have ever come close to the sheer brutal horsepower straight line acceleration as the cuda...i wish automakers would get back to building fun cars again.

That is the one I was talking about. I thought it ranked even higher but again it's more than respectable given the price. Also, the car tested wasn't the Z06, rather it had the base corvette powertrain making 400hp.

For anyone that doesn't know, Corvette uses a leafspring to suspend the rear (Though it still has independant suspension, unlike the new mustang (solid rear axle  )) and an out-dated (by automotive journalism standards anyway) pushroad motor.

Well the Koenisegg (sp?) CCR is the fastest super car in the world. It beat the F1 and some other ones I canl;t think of at the moment. Anyways I saw one for sale in Germany for 800 000 euros.

My boss just sold his viper to get one of these:

Only a 4cyl, but at 1900lbs curb weight, you don't need much to get it going.
It is more of a tight track/road sports car.

It looks much better in person.

What is that anyhow?

Also, isn't the Viper about due for a redesign?

1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Hardtop / Coupe. This was a standard production model available in Australia from 1973 to 1976. Being a GT, it automatically came with a 300bhp 351ci V8, 4V heads, top loader, 9 inch diff - pretty much all the standard XB GT coupe features.

I can honestly say that I don't ever consider what is a cool car really. I look at Volvo XCs and say, that would be nice to have, but never really go look at cars. Saw an 8 year old telling his dad about cars one time and thought it was the weirdest thing ever.
