Holy shit, I didn't realize how this bike would come in the box. Not one part assembled, hoses cut/bled, bb not pressed in, hset loose, etc, etc.
this will be a project. Steerer not cut, blah blah.
Reminds me of the way old days building bikes at the shop I worked at when I was 15.

I had been aware of that before this thread. I started looking into the Yetis a little bit if Pivot didn't come through with my warranty. The SB100 was attractive due to being a little beefier obviously, which is something I wish my 429SL was, after having it fail, maybe more like a 429 Trail, but with a new frame I can't complain now, if I get another few years I'll be pretty happy. For a 100mm frame, stiffness is huge to keeping it feeling snappy IMO (important for all bikes, but tends to get washed out a bit under pedaling with heavier rigs).

So, tell me what's wrong with this picture?



I bled the new brakes, and the rear has the classic Shimano issue of the lever going *almost* to the bar, and then normalizing after 1-3 pumps. The front is rock solid (engages at the beginning of the lever stroke). Any Shimano bleeding tips from the experts?

(yeah, I know, put on some mag 9's)

you using a syringe or the stupid cup thing at the lever?

IMO you have to use both.
Cup at the MC, hose on caliper nip, pump lever a few times, hold, crack bleed nip and close.
Repeat a few times until bled.
I've unbolted the caliper too and let it hang, so the line is as straight as possible to the top.

i'm talking about using a double syringe setup. not using the cup / syringe setup in reverse.
