I'm either going to get a new Santa Cruz Jackal or the new Yeti Dirtjumper, has anyone ridden both bikes? Both bikes are almost the same price, same weight, are both in stock in the colors I want, and will work with the same fork and gear set up, as well as they both look sick.
The bike is...
Hahaha, that is my car! First ride will be tomorrow morning. I didn't get to go out this morning due to work, but rest assured it will be dirty in a few short hours.
Just thought I would post my new V10. It just came in today, and I was just way too psyched. Got a Vivid, new Boxxer WC, and mostly the stock DH team build from Santa Cruz. I can't wait to ride it, I'm getting up ridiculously early to hit the Santa Cruz trails tomorrow, HELL YEAH!!
I really dislike having it on with no straps. No amount of adjustment will keep it from moving more than I would like. Mind you it doesn't really move all that much, but it moves enough that I notice it. I like everything to stay put, so I ride the straps and just forget about the thing, no problem.
The Elixers have been great! They bleed incredibly easily, feel more solid than the juicys, and have a nice lever shape. I had problems with my juicys pumping up over a DH run, but the Elixers did not do that to me at all, plus they are more powerful and easier to bleed than the juicys as well...
I thought the medium was going to be the right size, but I based that more off of riding last year's demo 7 instead of the 8. The new Demo 8 would have an even longer wheelbase than the 7 that I rode, and the effective top tube would be considerably longer. This is also due to slacking the top...
So I'm buying a 2010 Demo 8, and I can't quite decide which size to get. I'm 5'9" and I seem to be able to ride a small or a medium. Standing and pedaling on both bikes feels good, but I notice my knees are a bit close to the top of the fork on the small. This isn't the case on the medium, but...
Yeah, the tires are heavy, that part kind of sucks. They are the steel bead version.
I've noticed the rotation of a few schwalbe tires are kind of weird, but then you see them mounted on wheels at their sea otter booth mounted the way you think they would go.
I just got a set of Schwalbe Wicked Will tires, and while they look and feel pretty badass, the rotating direction seems a little strange. They seem like they should be run opposite to the direction that is marked on the tire. I'm just wondering if anyone has ridden them the direction that...
I have a set of the 26 Rallye pedals with Ti axles, and now a direct mount stem for my Boxxer. The only thing that I do not like about the 26 pedals is that they are not concave at all. I tried to overcome this by putting longer pins on the outside and shorter inside, but I just can't get them...
Damn you Brian, I want mine NOW!! I can't wait. Plus, we can have a raw SS party Rich. Mine is set up with an older Boxxer WC, so it looks like a Socom :) I'll be up there with the owner of my shop and some other guys from the shop, so anyone reading this should come hit the trails with us. I'll...
Not to beat a dead horse, but I've been riding clips again after being on flats for a long time and I can't decide which pedals to use. The only 2 clipless pedals that I am interested in are Time Z controls, and the Shimano DX. The Times are obviously much more floaty, and the Shimanos are just...
I called Sram today with the 2 problems (the other was that the bolts never really tightened up, they would spin a bit rather than really lock down. After talking to 2 different guys who were really really helpful, they decided to send me a new air assembly. They thought the click had something...
I just rebuilt a 2008 Boxxer world cup, and it has a strange click at the very top of the travel that I can't seem to get to go away. It's really weird, it is really only in the top 1/2 cm to 1 cm of travel and does nothing besides make some noise and make me mad. I was just seeing if anyone...
