Have older Mongoose Ritual (05 I think), decided to try some 26 wheels (came with 24). The 26" wheels I had to try are cheap, but the front will do for now. Need to get a rear 26 with 135mm cassette hub single speed chromoly axle (small size axle not 15mm like BMX and not quick release). Also...
Nice bike,
Couple of questions -
I have the same fork (except mine doesn't have brake bosses). How do you run the pegs on the 9mm axle? Yours is nutted on both sides I assume? Mine is QR. Is the 3/8 strong enough for pegs?
What rims are those? Look like my old Mongoose rims from...
I like it! Even the fork.
What does it weigh?
If you are looking for a shorter fork, the trailblade 2 is 440mm (17.3") for 20mm axle or 435mm (17.1") for the 9mm/14mm axle.
I think the Mongoose Ritual is a decent bike for the money. It will get blasted on this site.
It has been improved over the last few years (shorten chain stays, went to 26" wheels for 07 and lost the gyro). So they seem to be taking the criticism and trying to improve the bike.
Not sure...
OK, found a DMR Trailblade 2 (9mm axle version) ordered it and received it BUT...I don't see any v-brake posts. I plan to run only disk, but hoped it would have both. The picture is what I received but the description was as below. Anybody familiar with DMR part numbers?
Description is -...
No don't have 20mm hub, and don't really want to invest in different hub right now.
Supposed to be the Trailblade 2 also available with 9mm QR drop outs, from what I have read. It seems to be much less available than the 20mm version (which includes the axle). It is also supposed to be...
I take it BTI is a dealer only website as I don't see any prices?
If you don't mind what price was the Trailblade 1? I see they are in stock but TB2 with 9mm is not.
I'd go for the TB1 vs. TB2 if the price was right.
Considering a rigid on my Mongoose Ritual. Been doing a little research and looking at either the Surly Instigator (447mm axle to crown, suspension corrected for 100mm) or DMR trailblade 2 with QR axle (435 mm axle to crown, I believe).
I prefer the more BMX looks of the DMR and I think it...
Recently purchased Mongoose Ritual and fairly happy with it.
It has a cassette rear hub which seems to have some play. When wheel is off, I can't notice play in the axle, only when on the bike. It is not very much and hasn't gotten worse. I don't know the brand of hub as it doesn't say...
Thanks,
I went ahead and ordered an 05 for $380 plus 20 shipping. I figured that isn't too bad for disk brakes and front forks. It was either that or a 24" BMX, but I like the flexibility with this design. I can't afford those bikes over $500.
Did you run yours as single speed or add a...
Is this bike very good? I see they don't offer 07 with 24s and it is only shown in the International list on their website, not U.S.
Was the bike not very popular?
Any 24s DJ completes with low price tag?
Thanks. I'm still looking, riding my old Fuji 26" hybrid in the meantime. Are these Mirraco's available anywhere yet?
I am debating on 24 vs. 20. Anybody have any thoughts? I plan on DJ mostly, but may see a park once in a while. Are 24s out of place there? I hear different opinions...
Thanks, anybody know the weight? I may have to send them an e-mail. It appears weights are not advertised with most brands unless it is the race category. Haro weights were in brochure from dealer.
What about this Mirraco bikes? They have this ICON 20forty (24) that looks pretty similar...
Looking for some bikes 24 for me and a 20 for the 10 yr. old. Went to the local shop and the boy fit pretty well on the Haro X1 and a Giant something. Tried the shorter frame and he was a little small for it.
Not being around BMX for decades I thought they were heavy (I know entry-level...
