Bernard,

How'd you get the XTR cranks to work on a bike with 150mm rear hub?

...I've been trying to find out if I can get XTR cranks on my Socom, but I think the chainline will be off.

Also, were you able to order the cranks without the chainrings?

I can see how to get it down to 35.5lb if I wanted to, without any compromises (lose the fork bumpstops, strip paint, ti/ally bolts throughout, foam grips, slalom mrp with carbon plate, extralite freehead headset & formula the one brakes) but I'm resisting the urge at the moment...

(carbon slalom MRP will be going on next week however :busted:)

* disclaimer: I forgot to weigh the tyres before I mounted them, they felt a good bit lighter than my 1200g michelins though, so I'm guessing about 1000g each. Happy to be corrected?

That's the last (and ironically, cheapest!) step, when you're truly addicted and have thrown all the money you have at buying things that are 3g lighter :p Everyone takes the piss though, so you have to pretend you were bored of the old paintjob and "if it's silver, scratches from uplifts/shuttles wont show so much" :D

When I saw the weight I was impressed for a quite heavy bike but OMFG BOS WITH TI SPRING!!! You lucky bastard!

Can you get it directly from bos or do you have to order the ti spring separately?

This was a hair under 40 if I remember correctly. Certainly could lighten it up a bit more, but i'm going to get some serious saddle time in it first before changing anything:

Hum. Well, it's actually a Manitou ti spring. BOS gave me a 350 steel spring with the shock, and it felt like it was saggging too much, especially riding flatter tracks. So at the moment, I'm running a 400 Manitou ti, which seems to solve the sag without compromising grip. All I can say is that the shock really amazes me- the rougher tracks are the better it gets. The only downside is that it now makes the bike pedal like ass, and the extra sag makes the bike feel stupidly low in rougher sections.

Better pic of my Faith. Now with Easton Carbon bar. As is 39 pounds. With my 66 and 2.35 single plys (for freeride) its 38 pounds.

As this is a brand new warranty frame I'm debating putting a Double barel on it, or running it for the year as is and getting some new wonder frame for next year.

Changing to a Sunline stem will drop some weight. I just got rid of my Chromag and I swear the Sunline is half the weight. (I don't have a scale so I wouldn't know for sure)

I originally had it with an E-13 integrated stem and Holzfeller bars, and that was sky high. Haven't gotten to ride it yet due to snow, but just cruising around the parking lot and street feels much much better.

I'll take a look at the Sunline for sure, thanks!
