Nice socom! That is what the Intense 951 evolved from for those that think Intense 'made another new bike'
Stick - please influence intense somehow to stop making those ugly stickers. That socom looks dope but put intense stickers on it and Ill run away screaming. Maybe its only me but the current design reeks of 80s for me ;)

Well its time to bid goodbye to my much tweaked VP Free... figured here was as good a place as any! Good bikes tend to somehow ingrain themselves with me and I've got to sell this one quickly or it'll never escape my shed! Funnily enough the bike I had before this was sold without me ever missing it.


37 of your lbs - no ti, thats just a silver painted spring. 64.5deg HA, 14.5" BB. Fun, forgiving and confidence inspiring. It'll be hard to move on!

Yep, I got it to work right on the third(?) revalve on the third shock! That bike taught me more about bike setup than I can possibly explain.

That Transition is one of the cleanest bikes ever. Really well done cable routing, straight tubes. Very well organized. I'm impressed.

Here's my latest contribution to this thread.

Shop scale says 36.9lbs. I'm not sure I believe it, but my home bike scale has no batteries so it's what I've got to run by for now.

Frame: 2010 Demo 8 II(medium)
Rear shock: Fox RC4/300lb steel spring
Fork: 2010 Boxxer WC
Stem: Sunline direct mount, weighed with the Funn direct mount
Bars: Sunline flat bar
Headset: Stock Cane Creek flush what-have-you
Grips: ODI Ruffian Lock-on(full length on the left, half grip on the right)
Brakes: Avid Code CR(Mag?) I'm not sure if this is an OEM brake for Specialized as it's unlike the Code lever that most people are running. It uses the 1-bolt T25 Torx with the U-clamp that slides over the bare rather than a 2 bolt cap.
Rotors: Avid G3 203 up front, 185 out back
Seat: Stock Demo
Post: Thomson
Pedals: Premium Slim
Cranks: FSA Gravity Light 170mm
Chainring: Gamut 36t
Chainguide: Gamut 36t specific
Chain: Sram PC990 Hollowpin

DT Swiss Revolution spokes
DT Swiss alloy nipples
Disclaimer: I'm aware that most people shy away from alloy nipples and triple butted spokes for DH, but I've been DT Swiss/UBI certified as a wheel builder for 5 years. I've had 1 wheel set raced to a 1st place National US Championship Cat 1 win. 2 Cat 1 Fluidride overalls, A Fluidride series overall win(pro) and a Master World Championship 1st place qualifier and 2nd place win. I've been running some 2 cross double butted wheels on my Session/Foes for 3 years and they've held up real well. I feel like pushing the limits a little further seeing how well my custom wheel builds have been lasting.
Brakes: Elixir CR
Rotors: Hope Floating rotors 180/200
Shock: Likely a Vivid & Ti spring
Seatpost: Carbon post(unsure which yet) I ran Bontrager carbon posts on my Session/Foes and they held up great
Seat: Bontrager Race X Light(carbon base, minimal padding, hollow ti rails)
Seatclamp: Something bolt on to eliminate the QR
Cranks: Undecided: Possibly XT
Pedals: Superstar Mag/Ti or MG1's with Ti spindle
Cassette: DuraAce
Bars: Syntace Vecter carbon DH
Computer: Giant Axact 9
Stem: Hope integegrated top crown/stem

Even if I get a new frame, I'll still make the changes simply because that's how I want my bike. I'm not powerful at all, very little upper body strength and I really like the advantages I get from a light bike.

those brakes were a hybrid Spec did. elixr levers and code calipers. i have the same setup

Yeah, 50 pages. I was looking for the Demo that had the 6 speed setup, Stylo cranks, and what-ever-elses that was something like 33lbs. I never found it but I had to point out how clean that bike was.

Those brakes are ridiculous. Super powerful, I find myself grabbing too much brake too easily. I'm used to running Juicy Carbons/Shimano LX and those were perfect. I've got a couple guys riding the Elixir CR's and I'm going to give those a shot next year.

I miss that bike alot. Had zero issues with it during a full summer of whistler and shore riding.

38.2lbs at the moment, due to my ti spring not fitting the double barrel and the heavy michelin tires.
should be around 36.8lbs with ti spring an minions then.

it's a progressive spring off my old 5th element shock. it has an ID of only 35 something mm. without the sleeve it would fit on but would be too close to the shock body and probably scratch it.

Steerer was cut for the Sunday, so had to "modify" the king. Faced HT/Filed King/Expander wedge. Works perfectly and pretty well sealed, also nice and low.

Yea i need to reweigh mine as well. I got mine weighed at the local shop as well. But i'm not sure if their scale was accurate or not... Going to try and reweigh it this week. I'll post up what the other scale says.
