so the august slalom is on a monday? Here's the official word: The races are on July 10 and 11, August 7 and 9, and September 11 and 12. DH Saturday, Slalom Sunday. Look for a flyer in the next week or so.
Anyway to ride either track before the race, say maybe July 5th - the sunday prior? The correct dates are July 10-11, August 7-8, September 11-12, Saturday Downhill at Beech Mountain followed by Sunday Dual Slalom at the Lees-McRae Track. Races will be USAC sanctioned. Entry Fee for DH is going to be $40 for Cat1/2/3, $45 for Pro. Slalom entry fee is $30 for Cat1/2/3, Entry fee for pro is $35. The first race will be on the triple crown finals track which is being cleaned up and improved to have it running even better than before. Yes you can just enter one event, or both. There will be a series points for both slalom and DH individually, along with a combined points for riders entering both DH and Slalom.
Did the USAC rep get in touch with you? He emailed me offering to make the event the NC State Championships so that it counts to qualify for National Championships.Registration will open at 8:00 a.m. with practice starting at 8:30 for both events
Saturday Downhill race starts at 2:00 p.m.
Sunday Slalom qualifying at 12:30, racing at 1 p.m.
If you've got a license # with USAC, you go to the www.usacycling.org and click "Login" in the upper/middle/left. If you've got an account with your USAC# saved, you'll be able to click renew and a few screens in will be a drop down menu listing categories you can renew for. Mine still says Cat1...or Pro. Decisions...decisions.I'd ask if there was gonna be pro payout but I guess I can't race pro w/o a license.
Anyone know if you can step straight to cat1 or am I gonna have to work my way up to that as well?
mueller...you may be able to use collegiate results to upgrade (at least to cat 1 i'd venture to guess, not sure about to pro), i know there was talk of that in the past, but I don't know where it went, that would be a question for the powers that be at USAC. but yes, cash payout for pro, for both dual slalom and downhill. I'm going to see if I can still run an open non-usac class (since i believe massanutten usually kept one at their race) can any one correct me on that?
Yes, an open Pro would be Great!!!!Open catergory. That woul be great if you made an open/pro category.
Can you really call an Open class at a USAC race "Pro"? I wouldn't think so since there is an official Pro category. I would think you'd just call it Open.
I think i can make the open work for the DH,
I think we should just have an Overall category. Am I the only one that doesn't care about how I did in "my class"? Even at Hawksnest I got 6th by category but I immediately looked at the overall and in reality I got 7th because a junior would have placed 2nd in the pro class. Even at dirt bike races, while I am holding a plaque for 2nd in B 30+, I immediately look for the overall results to see where I finished. Like I said, at Hawksnest, we ALL lost to Dan.
Well I sure hope to make it if time and $ allows it. Me being competitive is another thing!!!!I just hope enough "pros" sign up for it as well making it competitive.
i second being super excited for some slalom!!
the 29er slalom bike is coming.....
But can we put a mike on him DURING his runs?Finals- Ennis on a 29er vs Trill Will on the stumpy. You heard it here first.
we could put pegs on his GT bmx bike and race together. hahaBut can we put a mike on him DURING his runs?
Yes it's true, the stumpy has taken much abuse and I'm going to let it out to pasture on the xc trails and in the forest. I've got a little slalom bike project that I'm working on, hopefully it'll be runnin very soon...Heard directly from the mouth of Trill Will today ... "The stumpy is being retired from slalom duties"
