both chains are 3/32

you should look for the 400lbs Ti spring, it may feel better. plus you have the hi and low comp on there to help you along better.

i have a 6" ti spindle aswell. cut down a little.
Ok! I tried a 8-speed shimano chain, aren't they 3/32? It was too tight for the top sprocket, anyway.

#400 should do the trick! But it looks like the softest ti is 450... I will check with Craig later on.

Jimmy, If you have any more problem with chains, try the KMX Kool! It's common among trials riders. Rated for big loads. And should stand up to some "bashing"!

Seismic, Glad you like the bike! Thanks for letting me ride your big bike! It really made me tull the trigger on this one!

...the bike is now 3-foot-to-flat rated...

That white Race Link is so nice.

its tooo strong. you never need anything that strong for a bike. unless its a 30year old rust bucket, you're trying to steal some campy parts off of.
plus on the bmw, since its steal, WD40 will just eat it away over time.
Um...WD-40 is basically mineral spirits and mineral oil (baby oil). You could spray it on a steel bike until the cows come home and it wouldn't hurt it.

That said, Framesaver is a better, much longer lasting, alternative for protecting a steel frame.

Hey, hi. Happy First Post.
I was wondering from your screenname if you might be the nice fella with the son on the Knolly that Doc and I (terry) met at Angel Fire this year?

And yes...DHS has something against WDFarty. Who knows, maybe it was a childhood trauma...

Hey! I remember you! You're correct, my son was on the Knolly V-Tach and I was racing the Knolly hardtail. A painful memory...the race, not you. You going back in Oct. for the final descent?

How's everything going with you guys; any progress on your plans? I'm still looking for a DH race bike for next season so I hope Doc is getting his hands dirty. ;)

easy there Milky, don't make me drop a RAD or PHAT in here someplace.

what other companies make 48spline (or whatever it is) sprockets besides tree and profile?
Deity makes some nice spline drive sprockets but I'm not sure about the exact spline count.

the Tree guys still have a year long Blog about the RD process of their spline drive on their website. they tried it initially with 100% aluminum construction but said the splines in the chainwheel failed.

Diety just seems too shallow of a company for me to buy anything from them. All graphics and e-thug attitude with little brains behind it. I'm only judging them by their profile knock off arms that had powdercoating all in the splines. Not impressed at all by Diety.

Oh cool, it is you. Yeah, we're good. Have only been to a couple races since AF and unfortunately didn't see you guys at any of them. We will indeed be back to Angel Fire in Oct. You going too? Jimmy Pop (with the lovely WD40/Sticky Fingers graphic , LOL) will also be there.

You having a good summer? Racing much? You and the kid staying off the injured list? (double knock wood, spin around, touch yer nose, no jinx for asking.) (<<<Me? Superstitious? Naaaah.)

Yessir, his hands are getting dirty and I'm slipping food under the shop door to make sure he's properly nourished.

It's been a great summer. Hit all the MSC races, still racing the hardtail, some crashes, I trashed myself fairly well in my race run at Telluride and it still hurts some, but getting better each day. Been hitting Sol Vista when I can and am looking forward to Keystone and Angel Fire. We'll see you there if not sooner. Keep me posted on what Doc's up to! I came this >< close to buying R.Durbin's Racelink.

Good to hear you've been racing the whole series. Sorry about the Telluride Trashing but it's nice to know you're on the mend. It's pretty nutty but totally rocks that you're out there on the HT....especially being in the less-young age category that we're in. ;)

It's not just nutty, at times it seems absolutely brain dead stupid...but, I gotta' go with what works for me. I keep saying that if I podium on the HT, I'll get a dually, but, it looks like I'll be riding the HT for the near future. I actually thought I had it all put together at Telluride and then I ate it in a totally easy section near the end of the course. :nopity:

Looks like I'm going to have to post mine up now.

Mine's built up right now at 48.9 lbs with a new '06 Boxxer Team, '08 Codes, X9 trigger & rear D, Mich DH16 2.5s, etc. 47 is easy going from IRC Torque Tubes (heavy) back to tubeless. Ti spring for the Avy. Possibly lighter wheelset (Sun Ringle A.D.D. wheelset on it now. All my other DH wheelsets are 150 spaced and the ADDs were cheap and available). That might get me to 46. Any ideas on the appropriateness of a Ti spindle on the Profile cranks on a DH race bike? Need to trim some of the fat off of it. Thinking of building a race weight front triangle for it over the winter and the pivot/jackshaft is just dying to be turned out of some 6/4. Anybody managed to get one to 42 pounds with a proper DH race parts?

I've ridden it all of 3-days and love the bike so far. So plush, so fast, and so cool. Podium'd in my class at Keystone my first time out on it but spent a lot more time talking about it and letting others ride it than I got to myself. Everybody wants to know more about the bike.

Heaps of thanks to TMX and of course, Doc!

yup 42.7lbs as it sits. with a boxxer wc air its almost under 42.

you need a 6" ti spindle. profile states that you only need atleast half of the crank arm filled with the spindle

i also don't have a full Ti bolt kit

I thought I got mine below 40,or was it 41,I'm fairly sure below 40 with 40s,i-beam,Ti brake arm, thomson stem, etc,my weak links were carbon bars and Ti spokes, although the Ti spokes seem fine once streatched in on the front I'm still using, maybe not good on the rear.Do a search in this thread, start about two thirds through and you should find mine.
