A question from a non BMW fanatic. Is the Big Link and the Hitman the same frame
basically yes,
bur not completely the Biglink was built/designed around the MTN 3.5 shock
the Hitman around the DHS 3.5
they have different eye to eye lengths.
and the mtn3.5 is not produced anymore

so thats how i understand it.
somebody correct me if i am wrong

So do you know the actual difference between the MTN 3 and the DHS series?

not from personally riding one.
from the technical side the main difference is that the MTN has a hi and low speed compression damping. both are adjustable.
the DHS has a combined adjustment for hi and low speed damping

Cuz they selfishly make bikes to suit their own needs.

There are quite a few tall guys with Brooklyn's and seem to ride them without sizing issues. Sikocycles is 8 feet 13 inches and he rides all 18 of his Brooklyns. (Okay, little exaggerated, but the guy is a giant and has nearly as many Bklyns as the fellas who make them.) The sizing has something to do with the virtual TT and changing saddle height. (Someone help us out with how that works, please.)

That's not the case across the board with all their bikes, but the race link and the old TMX for sure. How tall are you Hitman? Good screenname by the way. Are you from the UK?
Thats nice to hear, I love Brooklyns! I'm 6ft. I'm from Bonnie Scotland.

Anyone has more pictures of Pharrell's mini('s)?
That paint job looks unreal!
It is a sick paint job. He got two of them, the other is pearl white but I haven't seen a pic yet that does it any jusitice. Mac might have some more of the Sharkskin....Marcus...Pics please. Attached a snippet to tide you over.

The coolest thing in that picture of Doc's bike is the sweet little bike stand it's resting in. :D

Yo Joely, did you do Final Descent last week? Details and pics!! (Bklyn or no Brooklyn, doesn't matter, I'm a Cycle Cyndicate fan.)

Okay, y'all off to VegasBabyVegas. Hugs 'round the room and a special nod to my twin up there in Vancouver.

Does Pharell actually ride that fq, or is it a case of I can afford it so I'll have it?!
If not, he deserves a kicking!!:-)

My FQ fund is half way there, now need to ebay a few bits and bobs to get a bit closer. Does anyone know the waiting time on these at the moment, as if it's several months I may as well get my order in?

No, i am not with BMW or BMW. im just a schmoe. I was asked to keep these pics private until interbike cause that is when they were being showcased. I purchased a '05 frameset and these pics were emailed to me at that time to answer some questions i had. I have never been more happy, especially when Doc said, "welcome" after making the purchase. Such a feeling of belonging! Now i just need to learn how to ride!

Joel, I hope you dont mind me asking, but where do you get all your money from? You must have a great job to afford such awesome bikes. It doesn';t seem that long ago that you upgraded your TMX with a bit of anodising and stuff, but now a brand new Racelink!!

Is that white one, yours?

I dont have alot of $$. BMW's are not that much more money, if at all, than other DH frames when you allow for the Avalanche shock, cranks, chainwheels, BB, floating brake, ETC. Even if they are more money, their quality, durability, re-build-ability, make it a good investment. I like the fact that the bike is sold as a frameset. The floating brake, chainguide, cranks and shock/suspension are all intergrated and work in perfect harmony. Plus the fact that they hold their value and allow you keep your investment and / or eventually upgrade to a new frame like I did if you want to. If you can buy a used BMW for $2400~ or a new one for $3700~, you can bet you'll have a great performing bike. Funny, when i bought my first BMW used, the seller bought a new BMW. When i sold my bmw, i bought a new one too. Funny how that works. The guys a BMW support their customers no matter if you buy it new or used.

OK, I am starting to look for a used brooklyn, and wanted to know the differences between the racelink and the TMX.
I am 6'1" tall, and also wanted to know whick bike would have a longer cockpit or effective top tube? I know that the TMX has changing top tube, due to the seat post design, but how big is the link?

thanks!

Why do some Brooklyns have nice, consistant welds, and others have nasty, blobby welds? Who welds the frames at Brooklyn? Does he sometimes wake up and think; 'Man! I cant be assed with neat welds today!- I'll do my messy-ass ones, saves some time, dudes!''

Someone explain...

Come to think of it; are net welds sooooooo last year? Damn! If i'mthrowing that kind of money at a frame, old Doc had better get my welds donr totally perfect to every last quarter of a mm, or i'll shove that welding torch up his ass (while its on) .. (j/k)

I haven't ever seen any Brooklyn's with bad welds. If you want to disguss that with me, please send me an email or pm. I won't hear another word of it in here.

Man, I am the king of all dommkopfs. WTF? I get cheap and buy a synchros freeride, deep insert headset. Of course it wont fit the FQ as it's too deep. So I spend 2 hours cutting the headset cups down a 1/4 of an inch and try putting them in and I can't for the life of me get them in. So instead of damaging the frame, I now have to go to the LBS and pay $140.00 for a king headset, but only $15 to put it in. I always get cheap with the parts and I always end up screwing myself. If someone ever sees me in person, please punch me in the face as hard as you can.

Ok, I'm trying to be better about the rage and stuff and better myself, but please allow me to go off this one time.

[RAGE ON]
I HATE LOCAL BIKE SHOPS. THEY WONDER WHY THEY ARE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. RAPING ME 139.00 FOR A 99.00 HEADSET. IF I HAD THE MONEY, I'D GO AND BUY A HEADSET INSTALLATION TOOL. I DON'T WANT TO START A LBS DISPUTE HERE, I'M JUST IN A RAGE TODAY FROM LACK OF SLEEP [/RAGE OFF]

Did you get a red king to match those stickers and spring? Did they give you a reach-around too?
Well I actually took off the red stickers and put on white ones. Now I look at these pics and realize I liked the red better :(
I guess I'll have to order a sticker kit. Oh well. I'm getting a black king btw. I don't need a reach around anyhow, my arms are plenty long enough to grab my own ass.
