Sweet bike. I dig the red.PRELOADED said:Here are some pix of my race link. I have tried it as a trail bike with a 66, lighter wheels (outlaws), single-ply Minions, a smaller chain ring, and jacked-up compression dampening. Not perfect as it is long - but fun none the less.
In the pic with the Avy Fork, thats the best looking RL I've seen ! ( outside of T's chromer, but thats in a league of its own) The red with black graphic is so cool and the wheels look neat too.PRELOADED said:Here are some pix of my race link. hmmm... the "long tt mini" of which you speak is an unknown; if it IS even produced it'd be tiny under a guy your size. you'd need a dorkily long custom seatpost to even approach full leg extension - IF thats a priority. the longer rl would still be quite flickable under a guy of your size - the tt is quite short, and you can run dual 26's. the rl with the 66 would be a pretty neat ride i think - you're just going to have to sacrifice climbing efficiency. OR you might look somewhere else alltogether (sacriledge) - ie, a banshe scream - burly, lighter, lots cheaper, full length seattube, & ability to bolt on a rohloff. there's probably better bikes out there than a brooklyn for the job you're asking - it might boil down to a practicality vs emotion decision.llaskin said:So my question is which would be better as a trail/freeride bike, the Racelink or the long TT mini-link, given that Im 64 240lbs, and want to do short climbs and 8 foot drops?
You know - I love riding my Race-Link more then any other bike overall - but for trail riding/freeriding combo - I always take my Banshee Chappy - built up as an afterthought as I recieved in on trade for my old M1 - I was so surprised by the ride and how well it climbs-turns-drops - that it is my first choice for all non-liftserviced free riding... I have ridden my buddy's scream and I would tend to agree with XY9ine - a Scream or Chappy may be a better call - get the Chappy and the Race-Link if you can swing it!"OR you might look somewhere else alltogether (sacriledge) - ie, a banshe scream - burly, lighter, lots cheaper, full length seattube, & ability to bolt on a rohloff. there's probably better bikes out there than a brooklyn for the job you're asking - it might boil down to a practicality vs emotion decision"
AR_ said:Someone sell me some Avy forks All these pictures of them! Racelinks are built for them, they gotta be. The mtn 8s i felt were the only other fork i felt complimented the avy shock well enough, not ridden some dhf's, but i can assume they're also darn great?
PRELOADED said:Lets see - the race-Link with the Avy DH8 as shown with Ti Spring on rear shock - Minion 2.5s and steel bb spindle and fork springs - 49lbs
Avy fork is perfect with this bike - I love it at Plattekill - It was my secret weapon for shredding garbanzo this year on my first trip to Whistler... This combo rides like no other
Yes, I guess - Craig didn't have so many models when I bought this - Just this and the big-ass MTN8 - Mine has the same externals as the DHF 8 family with two springs (one in each leg) both steel. weighs in at just under 10 lbs with top crown.seismic said:Sounds great ! "DH8" ??? Do you mean the DHF-8 ?

The RL did great. the first time i have been able to point it downhill. i am so in-love with the geometry and wheelbase. i is soo stable and fast. I think i am going to add a Hopey steering damper in order to completely eliminate any feeling of riding the bike off-road! lol
Hell yeah, i hope to ride with you NE guys and gals at the US Open on Memorial Day weekend.OrthoPT said:Ahhh... more riding pics! Thanks for the infusion.

Chas's HITMAN was stolen from his home in Liverpool. There are only a handful of these bikes, maybe 6 of 'em.
There's a photo of it in here somewhere, and I bet someone will step up with a current shot of it, but it's all white with an Avalanche fork.
