I call BS. You look like Beavis in your picture.well i am travis
Yes, my headtube welds finally let go on the Phantom Drop. It was a manufacturer defect. All I can say is, thank god I walked away from that... even on that small of drop, talk about an abrupt stop. Thanks Leatt!well...least their warranty dept is good then haha but who knows what's going on. I also was talking to a buddy about the issue and we conjectured that its possible the additional gussets on the frame provide additional support, but force stress on other parts of the frame (maybe the headtube if that is where they're cracking)? again i'm simply shooting in the dark here...I believe Evan (downhill3r) snapped a rocky mtn headtube off phantom and that isn't exactly a Bender sized drop...so it can happen to other bikes...
maybe not, but does your demo 9 snap weekly? you are more of an expert than anybody buying a jamisI love how everybody is such an expert on frame design.
i took a guess for the 20 degrees, but if u think that is 20 feet out,and 7-8 down you must be using the pinkbike ruler. its about the size of the person going off of it, who is not standing straight up anway. for anybody who wants to see what snapped this jamis. (which cant be more than 8 rental days old) here it is.Anthem is closer to 7 or 8 feet down with an 18 foot gap. 20 degree downslope? no way... its less than 5. For reference, the cannon jump is only 17 degrees, so imagine what 20 degrees downslope would look like.
And there were piles of broken IH frames the first time they got the resort rental treatment.
better than most baseball players and a perfect average at that! You're batting 1.000 with your facts in this thread
theres your problem. if you had a Kobalt tape measure youd see differentI know for a fact the dimensions of the drop since I used a craftsman tape measure WHEN IT WAS BUILT AND I SAID 18 Feet, not 20. You're batting 1.000 with your facts in this thread
lmao.....
Lets just be glad most of us are okay, healthy and are in great spirits....
Oh wait.. the DH season is coming to an end, which means RideMonkey will Become HCOR for the next 6 months.....
I think everyone matured from the "Diablo sucks plattekill rules" stuff.... we are all happy we have options to ride with lift assist in the North East......Suprised there hasn't been a "Diablo Sucks, Plattekill rules" yet..
Well i don't think any of the Plattekill bikes broke in half this season..... so +1 Plattekill!!Suprised there hasn't been a "Diablo Sucks, Plattekill rules" yet..
yeah, same w/me.. did alittle blue mtn, and whiteface.. but no platty..i only hit Highland and Diablo this season though....
Should be a sick race if there's snow on the mountain. It's Snowing... and Sticking...
Well, it all depends on if we are going to get snow on Saturday.Should be a sick race if there's snow on the mountain.
Lamesauce? Magnitudes of gnar? I really wish people would type in English instead of internet make-believe language. How old are you?6x12 at best - that drop is lamesauce; the 'reg' line to the left is magnitudes of gnar better.
Good drop for sure just a shame it leads to nowhere. Good stunts become great if they are part of the flow of a trail in my opinion.
He he - funny thing it that drop actually leads straight into some cool turns. I think its the best drop they have build.i believe your talking about road to nowhere ?
Does that sentence make any sense?Nobody rents at ridetopia cause they rent out cove frames which are NICE... The shocker aint gonna break..
I am 40, and managed to ace all my writing requirments (<-- look I missed an 'e') up through my BA in Anthropology; as you pointed out, it's the internet it is not a Doctoral thesis as some try to make it - I try not to take it that seriouslyLamesauce? Magnitudes of gnar? I really wish people would type in English instead of internet make-believe language. How old are you?
Anyways, I'm pretty sure that the person that BUILT the drop has a pretty good idea of the dimensions. Try reading the rest of the thread.
For what it's worth, that drop is awesome. Polish Rambo builds amazing things.
Agreed! Bang into the woods, or hard right into the degraded stepup then left into the woods (or straight through the lil' skinny skillz zone and off through the woods.......)He he - funny thing it that drop actually leads straight into some cool turns. I think its the best drop they have build.
Yea that left line is fun as hell too. I know that it's not the biggest drop in the park, but I find it fun partly because I think a lot of people don't ride it. You come into the ladder bridge pretty much blind, which makes it cool. Then you get to sail over a giant rock right after you land.IBottom line is that, regardless of claimed dimesnions, it is a simple plop of a drop that I find boring, and have skipped it in favor of the left line almost exclusively.
Im not speakin for everybody - not trying to!Yea that left line is fun as hell too. The bikes at Plattekill don't get ridden a fourth as much as they do at diablo...Well i don't think any of the Plattekill bikes broke in half this season..... so +1 Plattekill!!
but they are twice or three times as old....i guess Turner makes a better bike than Jamis...who woulda thoughtThe bikes at Plattekill don't get ridden a fourth as much as they do at diablo...
A couple years older? Yes. As many ridden hours as a single season Jamis bike? Not likely....but they are twice or three times as old....i guess Turner makes a better bike than Jamis...who woulda thought
