I am in Orlando right now. The Rays bandwagon fans I see are enough to make you puke. Brand new hats, brand new jerseys, brand new shirts. Where the hell were all these "fans" for the last eight years I've been coming to Orlando?
Meh.

Still, RSN is visibly strong down here. :)

Go Sox.

Since when is it not on basic cable? Im not really into baseball but I usually at least watch the play off and series if the sox make it. I only have basic cable though and cant remember not being able to watch it in the past.

I guess I dont care either way but I would have watched it if I could.

P.S. As official Sox-thread-starter, I vote for all posting to be fun and happy, or at a minimum respectful. If you want to just be mean, please start your own thread for mean, unhappy people. :D

They need to spend more money. They'll never get past the big money teams like Tampa unless they spend at least 4 times more.
Tampa was certainly an outlier, and took advantage of their draft picks to select some great players. still, they almost doubled their payroll as compared to '07 (http://blog.sportscolumn.com/story/2008/4/1/231932/3450/mlb/2008_MLB_Payrolls)

here's the top payrolls in baseball (playoff teams bolded)
Yankees $209,081,579
Tigers $138,685,197
Mets $138,293,378
Red Sox $133,440,037
White Sox $121,152,667
Angels $119,216,333
Cubs $118,595,833
Dodgers $118,536,038

for comparison's sake:
Phillies $98,269,881
Brewers $81,004,167
Rays $43,820,598

had not the Mets staged another disastrous stretch run, they would have been in the playoffs instead of the Phillies, which would have had the 3rd through 8th highest payrolls making the playoffs.

conclusion - it does pay to spend $ if you want to make the playoffs. unless you are the Yankees. :D

I would like to use this wonderful Boston thread to throw another shout-out to New England sports...

Yay Pats!! :weee:

Yay Matt Cassel. I am so glad he had such a good game. He's so happy!

I would also like to add that I was down 33-72 in my fantasy game, and those wonderful Patriots (the Faulk-Gotstowski-Morris-DEF/ST-combo) got me a whopping 50 points for an 83-81 victory!!

I :cupidarrow: NE sports! :weee:
