Have a med raw with Saint kit, RC4 and F40. I'm 5'9 160.
Love it, that said;
Having the boxlink/flipchip/bolt backout/noise issues also.
I've tried greasing the chips and it only works for one run before the noise returns. Gonna try the teflon, thanks for that boys.
My pivot bolts seem to be holding at the moment.
My CC angleset usually takes two tightenings (set, ride, re-tighten) to hold but will on occasion clank still.

New box link and bolts...who do I contact here in Canada? Thanks

yup, i sent it today, its arriving to jensonusa this friday, and hopefully they will send it next monday or tuesday.

the m9 is not making the noise with the rc4

so hopefully i don't got the flip chip issues.

Just got my m9 together and it seems the head tube was much taller on my 2010 951 then the m9. Wanted to get advice if I should keep the same bar height as I did on my 951 or lower the bar height on the m9?

i would keep the same bar height. (if thats what you're comfortable with). i'm really liking the VPP suspension having just recently switched. i'm sitting deeper in the travel so i feel like i'm riding 'in' the bike rather on 'top' of it if that makes sense.

there is a practical limit of how low you can go. if you ride mostly steeper/tech stuff, the higher bar height may be better.

finally i got my new vivid air from jensonusa

tested it last weekend, and it felt very different to a RC4 in a good way.

it pedal's so much better with the vivid air, it feels very smooth, i guess is because of the coating,and it absorbs little bumps very good, the only thing i didn't liked it was it felt very hard at the end of the stroke, i think it might that it was on the most progressive setting on the m9.

and im still getting the creak sound on the flip chips.

Permatex Aviation form-a-gasket. Might require a bit of a tap to remove the chips afterward but killed the noise for me

Ok I have had my M9 since last November. First box link was machined a little off, so the chips would move/click a little.
I received a new box link and chips and have not had a problem since.
I also have the problem with the lower linkage bolts coming lose, cleaned it all out, degreased it, removed ano from bolt threads, blue lock tite and now it has been ok. I did notice on the M9 we just got in the shop the lower linkage bolts are completely different. They look more like my Tracer 2 ones. I will look into this next week.
I have been loving the bike since day one but last few days on it, it was creaking like crazy. Linkage bolts and chips were tight so I pulled the CCDB found the eylet bushings are already worn, unfortunately I have to send it out to fix it.
I had a back up RC4 I put on and the bike is dead silent again.
Not only do ithink the eyelet bushing was the culprit but the the eyelet reducers on the CCDB are horrible, several little spacers stacked on both sides. More spacers, more dirt, more noise at least in my opinion.

as of last week i was told the new collet bolt sytem for the M9's wont be available for a while still.
the new bolts that they are shipping are shorter then the original ones since they dont have the groove for the e-clip. they said some people were running into issues of the longer bolts hitting their chain guides.

They are very similar, the bolt is silver and the outside is black. Opposite of the Tracer. My bolts and the other M9s we have sold had the solid curved head with the E-clips then without. This is the first M9 I have seen with these lower bolts, we got it in last Thursday.

I have them on my Tracer 2, they have been quiet and smooth since day one.

I think the M9 linkage is the same, just the bolts are different. I will find out more tomorrow.

ugh, pressing out/in the bearings could be a PITA. i didnt think theyd be new ones but i guess they are angular contact?

called about the new setup and they said they are out for at least another "2 weeks."

hopefully i can get them then sooner then later since ive developed a ton of play from that box link. when i installed my new cranks, i pushed on the swingarm from the non-drive side while holding the crank arm and notice the play in the box link/bearing area

I have one of the first run M9s's with the loose tolerance box link and was sent a stock replacement under warranty. I haven't been told if the new design was a paid-for upgrade item or warranty item.

That is the direction I got thru my dealer from Intense- double up the thin shim at the bolts on the box link. That and the Loctite actually seemed to work tho I doubt if I had to loosen or re-set the bolts they would stay tight.

When I had my M9, that's what they told me, and that's what I did. It already has a shim, they just want you to put a slightly thicker one on there. For the most part, it worked...

Edit: I got these instructions straight from intense, not my dealer.

The new box link system (whole kit, bearings, pivot bolts) is available now. The only real issue I had with the old set-screw style system was the pivot bolts kept loosening up every ride even with loctite and c-clip installed.
The new box link is very similar to the maxle assembly in a way. So far, so good and has remained tight for 3 weeks now without re-torquing.

Got the new link installed. Looks good. Its just like the santa cruz collet system. Im thinking this thing should be pretty reliable. Something to note on bearing removal - behind each bearing there are 2 slots. Coming in from the opposite side you can bang the bearings out using those slots. I used a square drive screw driver. Looking forward to breaking this thing in at platty this weekend.

yeah, when i talked to them they mentioned that. you didnt use the blind bearing puller at all then? can you feel the notches when the punch? howd you press em in?

I used it, it just took the inside of the bearing out, leaving the balls and outer race. I took out the balls and used the next size up. That took the cap off. The outer race was still in there. I cleaned out the grease and could then see the notches. You can probably feel the notches.

For pressing them in I used a bearing press tool that I had for my vp free. It is basically a threaded rod with 2 nuts. I drilled a hole in a piece of wood and used that to protect the frame opposite of the bearing you are pressing. Once I got the bearing flush with the frame i used the old bearing on top of the new bearing to press it the rest of the way. Hope that makes sense.

They didnt send new chips. The area where the chip sits looks identical to the old one to me so I doubt that will change. Use anti sieze on the chip.
