Yup. Don't see a patent sticker on it anywhere, so I'm not sure if they went through DW, Trek or just said fuck it let our legal dept work it out.
As far as i know, the Split Pivot patent isn´t defined by having the axle go through the chainstay/seatstay bearing. Sounds strange, but apparently that´s how Trek gets away with their ABP system.

I've now had a couple of rides with the new rear shock and so far, so good. Nothing that qualifies as a proper shakedown yet, but it feels neutral and nice, and there's nothing about it I dislike.
The Emerald, however, is a fork I've tried to love but can't quite get my head around. I've fucked around with the settings on it and it's... ok I guess. But nothing like the velvety dream of a sensation that people with confirmation bias tend to rave about. I'll probably pursue this subject in another post and another thread at some point.
Also, this is one of the nicer pictures I've ever taken of my bike in my opinion. Today was a stunning day.

I had a DVO Emerald that I never loved either. I even delved into the shim stack to speed up rebound and tweaked compression a bit. I only ever got it to 'fine enough' feeling which did not in any way offset compromise that is the weight of the fork. Next DH fork was a contemporary fox 40 and I should never have spent the time on the Emerald after the vast improvement the Fox was.

I've had two split pivot bikes, a bunch of horst bikes, and a few single pivots as well as several other types (Maestro, VPP, etc). While there have been some similarities between the split pivot, horst and single pivots, the main pivot location seems to make a much bigger difference than which suspension type it is between those three.
Older Nikon 50 f/1.4 with some optical abberation from the lens itself, and some vignetting in Lightroom.
At what length are you using the fork with your Pole Taival? I'm planning to buy one of those frames and my current fork is running 150mm and I'm wondering if I should drop it to 140mm when it goes to service soon.
Why are they the only pedal?
My Mk3s were the only pedal too, the only pedal I've ever snapped an axle on.
Just got some Deity TMACs so I'll see how they go, the concave is pretty impressive but the symmetrical shape is going to make my already too steep STA feel even worse.

Toys, I set out to get a better fork and got- Archer D1X, Candy Ray handlebrah, TMAC pedals, 11spd sunrace cassette, Profile Helm stem, grips, super Enduro Tune carbon bottle cage, no fork.
Really happy with most of my choices and the bike just fucking rocks now, biggest winner was the handlebar, I was too fat for the Tune one before it and the shape sucked.
Now for some mini reviews of Tune gear.
Stem alignermajig doesn't fit my stem and came with flat batteries, I thought it was a stupid product and had to have one, now I guess I'll have to buy a cat to make use of the lazer.
Tune MTB bottle cage is supposed to be a pretty magical thing, and that it is, first ejecto bottleo had it land in front of my rear wheel mid corner, next time it jumped out in a water crossing and splashed me, bastard thing! It looks pretty though and I think Udi could really feel the weight saving over the one it replaced.
Tune Tubeless goo, it looks like a milk and quinoa mix, can't seal the leak around the valve stem so I doubt it could seal a hole in a tire. I'll give it a second go, it may be user error as Cushcore does limit sealant to the valve but Tyre Juice and even Orange Seal has worked in the past.

I'll probably just end up with a used 36 but I like the look of the new Mezzer, have had a soft spot for Manitou since my Black fork way back when.

Proof of existence. Don't know how many years it's been, but it's been more than 10. I feel like it's about time for a change. Felt pretty rusty on my first real mtb ride out in a while. Maybe it's the fact that I've been riding my road bike so much this year dodging potholes and rattling over years of patches on patches, but I rode the entire ride last night and didn't even notice my fork was locked out until I got to the road back home. Ha!
I did get a new set of brakes. XT 2 piston. Impressive. I only put on the rear since my Avid Elixir CR on the front (circa 2009) is still amazingly running great.

Rocky Mountain ETSXC meets high pivot/idler? I like it!
Caved to the 29 peer pressure in February and ordered a GG Trail Pistol in a fit of inebriated impulsiveness. First new bike I've bought in I have no idea how long--I blame Matt (as does my wife). Anyhow, got my first couple rides in this week and so far very pleased. Such a party bike... Looking forward to a bunch of fun rides this summer and will post some more fully formed impressions once I've had some more saddle time. For now, I'll say that once again I think Matt and Co. have outdone themselves--taken all the things I've liked about their bikes and turned them up a notch.
