I thought the pics turned out pretty good all though it made the road gap look smaller then it really is.

Yeah, but those guys were pushing damn big bikes. You get credit for throwing down on the HT.Originally posted by gunslingger
Toshi that gap at Post took me out. The second time i hit it i tumbled pretty far, came out OK but I am pissed. THe landing is pretty steep though the guys we were with made it look damn easy. I can not wait to get up there again. THe one in Camas is fun and a good prelude to the Post gap.
Yeah I hear that... Less work, more riding.Originally posted by gunslingger
what day where you there? Problem is they are tearing it down little by little!

Pictures did come out good. I just like things to look bigger than they are........
We should all quit work and just ride....i think. all this "i gotta got to, or i gotta move stuff. or my woman said" crap sucks! i am playing the lottery this week!

I know he gave vague directions, but i usually ask before I tell more about someone else's spot. but, oh well. if your gonna go start at the trailhead off of hazel dell and just ride on the pavement for a little bit. cut through a little trail (in the grass) on your left to see a couple DH runs. Meet up with the pavement again and keep going all while looking left. I think it was the second or third trail that has a cool logride. Anyway there's probably more there than I saw so just look around. I'll spend some time there next week.
Ah, so that's the real name. I was down on Sat. the 10th. My buddy moved to Amboy, WA last fall and said there was some cool shore like stuff. I'd like to get a day of filming in before it gets totally ripped out.Originally posted by gunslingger

Whoa! Shore stuff in Amboy??? I live in Battle Ground, so any info you could give would be super-appreciated.Originally posted by marz

oh, I got a little excited there......Originally posted by frizanko
I dont think he was saying that there was stuff in Amboy. I think he was saying that his friend who moved to Amboy was talking about the stuff in Camas. The Amboy area has alot of potential though. I used to go out that way to ride Siouxon all the time, back when I was riding a way lighter bike.
We've ridden some of the stuff up there. Fun, worth the trip, but dangerous when wet. It should be drying up soon, though.Originally posted by zane
About Larch Mtn. (the one in WA), anyone actually been there? What kind of stuff is there to ride? I know how to get there, I just want to know if it'll be worth the trip.
I'm still pretty new to ridemonkey so I'm still trying to meet everyone and make as many new friends as possible (you can never have too many friends who ride).Originally posted by frizanko
Zane, as I was once told by another monkey, youve just got to come out to some of the other rides posted and start meeting people face to face...It's when everyones all sweaty and dirty with big **** eatin grins on their face that the info gets passed along. I wont be able to ride this week untill maybe Friday evening. I know that some of us will be at Camas on Saturday afternoon too, which sucks cause you said your weekend is shot.
Most of the monkeys dont like giving out any info about the best stuff, because the best things in life are usually things we're not supposed to have or be doing... Makes sense to me. However these forums are a great place to start.
BTW the monkey that gave me that advice was the same one that doesnt want info about Larch posted....
Im not trying seem like a dick or anything, Im just passing on what ive learned about these boards and the riders that use em.
Thanks for the park tip, I've ridden beaverton before (I've ridden bmx for a few years...). The parks I'm referring to are all of the Kickass parks within a couple hours of here- reedville, burnside (unless you want to ride at 4am), the new Pier park (being built by dreamland parks = no bikes), clatskanie, and a little farther, newburg, BOTH amazing lincoln city parks, newport and most other parks. I've been formally escorted (eg- kicked out by cops) from most of the parks mentioned above and almost got beaten by angry skaters at burnside. I know I've missed a few parks, but if it's really awesome it's a good bet it's not bike friendly.Originally posted by Toshi
i'll go riding on sunday! and saturday, and possibly friday night w/lights . the beaverton skate/ramp park is open to bikes for the record: take 26 to the cornell exit, turn left (south) across the highway, turn left on 158th, turn left on blue ridge, look to your right.
That's the plan, my friend: get involved. My GF and I do a lot of bike advocacy out here in HR. Lemme know if you guys want any help in getting started. You guys are taxpayers, you have a right to be heard, and hopefully a right to access.Originally posted by zane
If we, as bike riders, make our concerns heard we just might get what we want (more places to ride things we WANT to ride- not more trails that an 80 year old can ride that the city tells us to ride on).
I'm sure most people on this forum would do anything to help get more places to ride locally, but I can only speak for myself, so if there's anything I can do to help just let me know.Originally posted by gorgechris

Yeah, Trail Advocacy starts with a good attitude towards non-riders you find on the trail...alot of places have been destroyed because hikers and others were nearly mangled by someone flying on a bike...and yes, I think this rain is gonna screw my weekend, I dunno about the road gap in the wet...I just dunno...although if everyone's still going, I'll be there in the slop like everyone else, that is just the way of the wheels...Originally posted by zane

THE RAIN MUST STOP!!!
I really hope we don't get rained out of riding this weekend, if it doesn't stop soon everything's gonna be all mushy and muddy. How long does it take for Post to dry up after a good rain?
Yeah man, if that's the plan, I can bring the thing...I still gotta get up to PC, Chris what's the weather been like? it's been pissing in P-town for 2 days...damn PNW weather...Originally posted by frizanko
So I want to get a quick roll call going... Whos all in for Camas on Sat. afternoon... DK, can you bring the trailer?
Also, whos plannin on ridin Sunday?
Showers off and on, some heavy, most light. It was getting too dry up there last week, so some moisture is good. Like I said, it makes the logs a bit of a challenge! In any case, it should not be nearly as muddy as when we had the mini-Monkeyfest up there a couple of weeks ago.Originally posted by Get_Some

You know what, I think we just didn't go far enough down the trail. Discovery trail is longer than what we saw, so there's probably more trails off to the side to explore.Originally posted by gunslingger
gfx you gonna be out to the discovery this week? we got a tour from a guy yesterday on a specialized but you seem to be talking about bigger stuff than we saw.
If you're open on sunday I'd like to possibly check out Larch or Camas.... what're they gonna be like due to the rain?Originally posted by gunslingger
is kinda screwed to go anywhere far. i am moving. i may be able to ride camas or larch or discovery though
I think that the Larch WA FR trails will be slippery from the rain. The logs dry out slowly.Originally posted by zane

Hmmm, this rain isn't stopping. Hopefully we're not SOL for sunday..... Looks like riding on sunday will be determined by which spot is the dryest!Originally posted by gorgechris

I don't think it's raining as hard out here as it is over PDX. We live about two miles east of PC, so we get all the rain it does. It's mostly been showers with some heavier periods of rain.Originally posted by zane
Is it raining as bad at PC as it is here? (bad to the point where things are unridable?) Maybe if saturday is sunny things will dry out a bit at camas, too.
Thanks, man, I gotta' do something to make up for the fact I can't drop anything over three feet. Yeah, that rainbow does have some consequences to it if ya' miss.Originally posted by gunslingger
that is sweet, tricky entrance to say the least, all those logs are tough and that one is extra tough!
