Exploratory ride today. Saw lots of cool stuff and amazing trails. 1600m of climbing has left me feeling spent! Happy to report I finally found some decent jumps and I happily sent them :D Also had my first mechanical in a long time - chain derailed then bent and jammed in the pulleys. Removed some links and it was all good, but almost made me late for school pickup! Talk about rapid trailside repairs :) Also some light reading at the hermitage. Finally finished this book!

Out on the chubby bike, with actual (just about) snow coverage. Got to the top of the climb just in time to catch the last rays of the setting sun. Then a 1000ft descent before it got dark

I try to get the nice bread for the staff on Fridays. There is a really good bakery behind the office. You just walk in and take what you need and pay with an app. The bread is amazing and they deservedly have a five star rating.

I might go pick up a bread on the way home for the weekend. The boys really like it too.

Little guy asked me to go up the hill and to ride some trails. So we did exactly that. He rode amazing and impressed me with his ability to ride tech. This bodes well! The sign talks about the fire mitigation measures they’re taking in the park. Impressive and extensive from my view. Lovely evening light too.

Some tricky conditions today. Trails were packed, but soft with a minor rut running down the middle. And the snow wasn't packing together, just scooping out from under the tires on the climbs.

Still great though.

Discovery day. Heard about some jumps, went to go find them. Good times and great light this am. Cold! Weather said 7C, the ground said frost!

So bad. We had winds in excess of 120mph, basically a hurricane, trashed lots of planes. Been months since we've had snow. Been raining since then, with crazy driving rain yesterday. All sorts of trees snapped like twigs on the trails. Going to take a long time to clear out.

After 11 emails and a phone call, the pickup of the ohlins spring was arranged. Nice service centre. Looks to be mostly moto stuff. That dangerholm guy is posing for spanish mtb magazines it seems :) Used the opportunity to try the trails out there. Didn’t plan the best route but was still cool. Got to see an old castle that I’d only previously seen from a distance right up close. Was pretty cool. My bike is telling me, tlc time please.

Much bark out, and there's still a few Orchids around.

I might have to offload this phone to my old man, I'm too hipster to have a camera this bad.....in a non ironic way.

24F @ start with some highly unpleasant wind. Not much warmer later on. Frost heaves and nature's ball bearings of death (acorns) were brutal. This place is great for many sessioning bits/opportunities, but not today. New ride continues to be a pleasure.

Almost destroyed my left knee tonight. Was on a skinny snowshoe trail; stepped off the bike and into thigh deep snow. Front of my foot wedged under a buried log and then I fell backwards. Could feel that my knee was twisting and at its point of no return... Luckily my buddy was there to help get me up out of the snow. Boy howdy that was close.

Great ride though.

There is so much snow up north. Lake effect snow really hammering so far this winter.

That looks so good.

Can anything in these pictures kill me?

Your seat appears to not be straight. :busted:

ALSO, dump is just rubbing in the warm looking weather now. :D
Maybe if you were there two days later, there would have been some tree limbs dropping.
Guess there could be a Death Adder hiding in the bark, you wouldn't see it.

Seat is indeed not straight, didn't notice it, my handlebar isn't straight either but with two wonky collarbones it doesn't really matter.
