Currently reading "The Golden Spruce." I'm only about 50 or so pages into it so far, and like Laura, I can't offer my opinion just yet.

I can't stand Ann Rynd. What a worthless philosophy.

I can never concentrate on just one book, so I'm reading Catch 22, Cities of the Plain, and Two Years Before the Mast.

You are my new favorite monkey! :thumb:

Yes, I've read the complete series of Nightside and Dresden books! Even watching the Dresden TV show.

I'm guessing you've read them or at least are thinking about it?
Yeah, Love them both. Do you like the TV series? I think it kicks major @ss. Bob is a little annoying, but Dresden & Murphy are great

It came out that James Frey fabricated parts of this book, and now it is now considered a fictional account of a drug addict.

Don't you watch Oprah?
For a while there, when the scandal broke, the publisher was giving refunds to buyers if they could prove they had purchased the book within a certain time period.

I just finished "The Monkey Wrench Gang" by Edward Abbey. Great stuff.

"I thought I was wrong once, but then I realized I was mistaken."

Classic.

I started "In Cold Blood" last night and fell asleep after two pages. Not a good sign.

Funny you should mention but I was home sick the day she did the interview. i've also read the book. i've also read everything that he possibly made up. the other dudes statement was overboard and misinformed.
It's a good book. Now the other book 'my friend lenerd' seems like almost a total fabrication. It's an ok read but seems like he's setting it up to be a movie. The ending is totally fake.

I couldn't read straight through this one. I like to keep it next to the bed or at my desk at work and just read a short section at a time.

Blasphemy! Well, sucks for you. You missed out. His full length books always take a while to get going.
WTF?

How much more than 500 PAGES do you need "get going"?

His characters were dull, lifeless and unsympathetic. I wanted them all to die.

Polio: An American Story
Polio is a good read, but my favorite "disease book" of the last few years is The Great Influenza about the 1914-19 flu pandemic.
