Great 2024 Finale today. Lesson learned, don't case a 6m gap on a 12.5 kg trail scalpel :banghead::no:

Any suggestions for a replacement rim are very welcome. Thinking about EX471 right now.

Last ride fried the shimano front hub bearings, lost the mezzer rebound knob, mezzer axle loosened up and linkage bolt backed out.

i trashed my newmen wheelset in not even a week. those things are soft af
Which rim was it?
Newmen seems to have different types of alloy for their rims. I have been very positively surprised by how dent resistant these 400g evolution sl xa25 are. The non sl are made of a softer alloy

a30 sl, dinged the rear rim so hard it didn't hold air anymore. front wheel lost 2 spokes during my week in paganella

no problems with my race face turbine v2 so far. liked the sound (or the lack off) of the newmen though

Welp, 2nd time this WT Resolve post has gotten saggy. It was having trouble extending last ride and I thought it was just cuz it was cold. Planned to do a service, which I just did....but still 25mm of saggy play. Back to WT. Supposedly these are "self bleeding"...but I feel if it had the BY Revive valve it would fix it.

A rock ate the cage of my T type RD

$42 CAD to replace.

Crazy my normal AXS RD has run for 4 years with zero issues.

Bad omen for 2025…

I managed to bend a chromoly Hope pedal spindle yesterday. Like a proper hack, I popped off a drainage roller but landed too close to the upslope on the side, where the pedal dug in. For how quickly things escalate, I was surprised that the only things I broke were the pedal and my light's bar mount, and I only had a few minor scrapes and aches.

The downside is none of there's apparently only 1 US retailer of Hope spindles, who charges basically Euro shipping ($20 USPS - you know they're only paying like $8 for that). And my 8mm nut socket that works on Deity & Tenet pedals doesn't fit on Hopes, so I need their version of that too.

I usually buy that stuff from superstar or tweeks cycles.

Any ol socket works just run it with a driver against a grinder until it's small enough

Got links to either/both of those? I just tried googling them to save in bookmarks for the future and getting nothing that looks real.

this and tweekscycles are the last places i ordered them from
looks like tweeks i had to email to get the axles.
Oh, they're in the UK. I was trying to find an alternative shop in the US so that I wasn't paying $30-50 shipping on an $18 F22 axle and $20 rebuild kit. There's plenty of UK & German shops that have the Hope small parts, it's just the shipping is nuts.

They also don't necessarily hold all the stock showing on their website.

Buying HOPE anything if you're not in the UK is never a great idea

PM me If you'd like to buy the parts and have them sent to me in the UK and I can then forward them to you. No idea how much cheaper (if at all) it would be tho.

Ride home from the pub last night in freezing temperatures and had a little altercation with the ground via a rather large patch of ice removing all tyre grip at high-speed... Bike hit the deck... I hit the deck pitch black and the bike was facing in a direction that meant I couldn't see anything other than it's lights fir a few seconds... Git up litterally like bamby on ice and realised my brand new phone was no longer in my pocket. After finding that took a look at the bike... One side covered in mud/spray and the saddle/seatpost way off centre... Twisted it straight sorted myself out and ride off. Only to find the Aenomaly switchgrade (AliX copy) now slipping in the flat and nose down positions...
Oh well...
Took it apart today to see if its repairable but found two pieces have broken.(see last two pics)
Less durable materials than the genuine article? Who knows.
Anyway. Pics if anyone is interested

The revive is a great post. 4th season on it and just did my first revive earlier this week.

now you can buy the cheaper new one from the originator!
That's a consideration for sure.
Honestly not convinced the real ones will be any stronger but if that's the case paying full price will be worth it for the warranty.

that sucks. I have these tires for winter commuting, and I find they work great in the conditions you described. without taking too much of a hit on rolling resistance.
