It looks like the stone was applied and may have not actually provided the structure. Do you know anything about the project?Nah - this was a do-it-yourself project.

It's called "Bishop's Castle" if you want to look up info. I don't know anything about it other than it exists. It looks like the stone was applied and may have not actually provided the structure. Do you know anything about the project?
I thought Brian only knew how to draw with crayonsHere's a crude photoshop, extend the front gable with some stone columns and continue the stone veneer around the front entry.
Ha if we let the framers/trim guys/plumbers/electricians do the job like they "think" it should be done this house would have been a disaster. Most contractors, even the good ones resist change or something out of the norm.
It's not a matter of wealth, it's taking a project, making a few tweeks to it and make it appear like you spent more money on it. Changing the style of the main entry probably would have added no more than $5K to the cost to build.Flaunting wealth shouldnt be a primary concern if you ask me. Im fairly poor though.
You should see what I can do with magic markersI thought Brian only knew how to draw with crayons
Or the architects can give more options on the front elevation.Or you could, you know, build what the buyer wants. Unless this is a spec home (I didn't see any mention that it was), isn't there someone whose opinion on the subject matters more than the builder's?
My guess that house costs between $375K-$450K to build. If would be willing to bet the construction costs are far lower for this house than to build Brian's house as well. I'm sure the construction costs where he lives are much more than around here. This area of NY is the fastest growing area in the state I believe.
We were able to keep costs down with value engineering and competitive bidding throughout the process as well.
It's just west of Pueblo Colorado, and it's been one guy working on it for the last thirty or forty years by himself. The stone is definitely providing the structure. It looks like the stone was applied and may have not actually provided the structure. Do you know anything about the project?
My house is worth no where near what I paid for it. IMO, it's a POS, I paid for the location. My house is far from my dream home.that's likely mostly based on land price, no?
what if you put brian's house in the middle of the Borneo jungle and compare?
Tough gig paying $1.2mil for a POS.My house is worth no where near what I paid for it. IMO, it's a POS, I paid for the location. My house is far from my dream home.

I've got some pictures of it here.

It's all about location, you can always change the dwelling, you can't change the land.Tough gig paying $1.2mil for a POS.
Yeah, sure... but now you'll live in a POS for 20 years. Unless you plan to raze it and put in your new one:It's all about location, you can always change the dwelling, you can't change the land.
That's where you can be very wrong. There are a lot of great trades people that can add a lot of custom touches that's not always recognized by the architect. Being in the construction field for over 23 years I've seen a lot. You would not believe how much architects "don't" know. IMO architects should be in the construction trades for at least 4 years before they even pick up a pencil to draw a set of blueprints.Ha if we let the framers/trim guys/plumbers/electricians do the job like they "think" it should be done this house would have been a disaster. Ha, I was thinking the same thing. Did you catch the note about the stairs/platforms swaying all over the place?Anybody besides me lost by the "Brian HCM" jokes and wishing they would cease or be explained?
Oh...and that castle fokking rocks. But the tool on tower 2 is braver than I'll ever be. I've ridden some mean roller coasters and never once has my heart been more in the pit of my stomach than looking at those photos...I think I may have gotten e-vertigo...
yeah...I have no degrees in anything engineering oriented, but by my visual inspection, I would rate the pucker factor 9 out 10.Ha, I was thinking the same thing. Did you catch the note about the stairs/platforms swaying all over the place?
one lil seismic twitch and it's all over!Ha, I was thinking the same thing. Did you catch the note about the stairs/platforms swaying all over the place?
yeah-yeah...Wow, you're alive!
To long.yeah-yeah...
How long is the build time on ur lil project there stoshypants?
it took a guy who knew what he was doing a day and a half to do the dining room & foyer. He used regular sheet rock mud over the sheetrock. His cost was $350.N 8, does it cost alot/time consuming to do plaster walls like that? Or is that some kind of stucco?
alot of people in the east do to, be gotta use a sump pumpThey do in the north. If they did down there it would be full of water.
of course.I like the disco floor lighting, can it change colors or strobe too?
