Last spring a sales guy showed us a 30' travel trailer that was around 9,000 GVWR, told me "you will have no problem towing this with your Expedition". I max out at 9,500 and 30' is way to long for a Expedition.
RAM dealer I bought from is right down the street from a Camping World. He said you wouldn’t believe how many people buy a camper, realize they can’t tow it, then drive down the street to buy a new truck.

So more redesign ideas this weekend. I realized it was easy enough to move the partition back 2" by cutting and redrilling the top bracket. While the wall was out, it looked so open and nice.
The relocation allows me to recline my seat 2 notches and it's perfect. Without the partition, I would still have the bathroom behind me, but the wife could recline sitting forward.
The downsides being the cab not being as well insulated, would need blinds for the front windows, and we would have to put the dogs in the bathroom for "alone time".
I got the ceiling tiles pulled out and removed the mouse infested insulation. They didn't touch any of the wiring and all the lights are routed on the drivers side. So the passenger side is clear to run all my wiring.
Next weekend is also supposed to be nice, so I will start to frame out the inside.

Before/after. The wheel change added some ease in/out room, as well. 2 notches reclined makes a huge difference.

Ended up sanding them all off in an hour or so. Spent 2 hours with the heat gun and only got 4 letters off this morning and just said fuck it.

i enjoyed this - seems pretty nice and legit.
Went to an RV show yesterday as a builder from the west coast was supposed to be there according to the website.
Not listed on the list of exhibitors once we got there and didn't see them as we wandered past all the house sized 5th wheelers.
Waste of $30 on parking and tickets.

After living out of it for 8 months so far, I have to say that truck campers kick ass. I’ll probably ditch the hard side for a pop-up since we won’t be doing a ton of extended travel following this road trip, but I must say this is a nice way to travel.
I’d wager the only thing that might beat this is an Earthroamer or the likes with a pass through. Too bad those things are uber expensive and 100% camper 100% of the time with no other utility.

I thought they were talking energy storage, that seems to be the new hot item. I can't wait to see how my energy system does. I have room for 2 more panels and my controller can do 600w, so if I need it, it's available.
But right now I have only 1 AC appliance and it's the Chromebook. It's fully charged in an hour and lasts all day, so the drain is minimal. If the 400w keeps the 400ahs topped off, I'll be good.
Bed gets built this weekend and then framing starts. Going to be a busy few months.

So I got the bed part of the bed built and started on the cabinet. Since I got the deluxe adjustable kit, there is a top mount for the shock that goes into the side of the cabinet.
The instructions just say "rout out a 2 5/8" x 3/4 x 1/4" deep slot so the mount fits flush"
This required another trip to Ace. But I got the sides done before dark. Also did some filler primer and got most of it block sanded. Progress is slow, but progress.
