Here is my sub 40 rig. It sits at a wee bit over 38lbs...I will get the very percise weight soon. Ti spring also coming!
the syncros wheels are light, i got a 32mm front rim and a 36mm rear. super light wtb rear hub. and the bht-1 tires are good too, steel bead, but with thin side walls, and 50 front/55 rear compound. i'm also running 2.1-2.4 xc tubes.Love the frame, not so hot on certain parts but the frame is so damn sick, I can't get my eyes off it...
Wouldn't you be able to shave a significant amount of weight by losing the Syncros wheels and sticking something lighter on there?
I don't know exactly it's weight but here it is:
. Medium M3 frame with 6 Way 500lbs steel spring
. White Brothers Groove 200 fork
. Saint bb and cranks
. Home Made guide by Tarzio, similar to MRPs but not THAT expensive
. Da Bomb pedals
. 12x150mm Azonic rear hub with Vzan Markolf rim (a brazilian manufacturer, anodized and very lightweight), 2.5" Minion DHF and Maxxis tube
. Novatech front hub with Vzan Markolf, 2.35" High Roller and Maxxis tube
. Funn bar and stem
. Specialized "I don't know the name" saddle with a generic seat post
. Hayes Purple brakes
. SRAM PC990 k7
. SRAM chain
. Tiagra rear derailleur
. Old XT mega 9 shifter
Some parts are changed and since I got it I haven't done more than 5 rides with it. I'm more than a month stoped due to some problems.
I hope to come back soon with every thing fixed and working well.
Cheers!
Im sorry dude but I got the same frame with all lighter components (except the fork) and it sits at 39.8 on the digital scale...Unless if my scale was broken there's no way yours at 38...Here is my sub 40 rig. Well then I am guessing your scale was off a little bit. This was weighed on two scales, and both came within a quarter pound of each other. And another Demo I know with almost the same build but with xo and I9's/823 is sitting at 38lbs. I will check again, but I'm pretty sure yours is just lighter that 38lbs.Im sorry dude but I got the same frame with all lighter components (except the fork) and it sits at 39.8 on the digital scale...Unless if my scale was broken there's no way yours at 38...

Haven't put it on the scale but the spreadsheet says around 41lb's.How much does that weigh CD? 41lb-ish?
If your running those rims get the dt rim strips/stans and ditch the DH tubes. 400 + grams saving just there.I've had the front one for two weeks and its still perfect including some really rocky tracks. I haven't ridden any DH with the back one yet, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I run 30psi front and 35psi rear though.
Should get maxxis then, have heard they are stronger. 6 months on DHF tubless tires no probs.I'm tempted, but I tend to cut sidewalls pretty often.
haha well thanks.^^ That's not even close to 40lbs. nice pics though,so romantic.Tough looking bike you've got.

Picked it up last year for $1100 from craigs list and have upgraded a bunch of the stock parts that were still on it over the winter. It had 3" doublewide rims and the rear wheel was 24". Changing the Fork and the wheels/tires dropped a heap of weight.
