Nice socom I also have one and really like mine, but
36 lbs with 2ply intense tyres and without ti spring and the moto V2 brakes... I only get 37.2lbs with maxxis 2ply, ti spring and juicy carbons...

Do you have a full spec list and was it weighted using a bathroom scale or digi hang scale ;)

Almost, but not quite! Few minor details & it would be pretty much bang on for me.

There is a lot of weight to be saved on that bike yet still! :D

I've not posted here for some time so here is my SX-Trail in it's current (and final) set up.

36lb 4oz. with the DH tires on it. Lighter if I ever get around to putting my 'xc' tires back on.

weight weenie highlights:

- DHX with ti coil

-custom 6sp (11-13-18-24-28-34) cassette, spaced away from the hub to get the best chain line. I think it came out to 210g. works great

- 66RC2X with left side coil stack removed, fork came out to 2777 grams with star nut and headset race.

- lightly drilled pedals, chain ring and shifter.

-rear wheel it tubeless, front as soon as I get a new tire.

- hand made lexan chain guide back plate. Been running it for nearly a year now. works great, don't remember the wight but the roller and hardware weigh more then the plate soo um... light.

- other semi light parts include Protaper OS bar, Hozefeller OCT crank, Specialized Phenom saddle (I highly recommend!) 6" rear rotor saves a good chunk of weight too. Made sure to use short rotor bolts and alloy bolts where ever safe.

seems like you took the weight weenie-ness to a rarely seen level. drilling? hand-made backplate? damn

haha well... I did not take it too far. every thing is solid, performance and reliability has not suffered.

I think I do need to weigh the bike with my kevlar tires on it thou. according to interwebs listed weights I'd save 760g with my other tire set taking the bike down to a really light bike at 34.75!

(2.5 folding Blue groove / 2.35 folding nevgal vrs. current 2.5 wire blue groove and 2.5 Minnion UST)

yeah, as long as everything is still strong, good work. you could take weight out by getting a 36 float, but that would make it crazy light, almost unbelievable. i need to lighten up my bike very badly, i have some plans to make the bike substantially lighter, but there is the money part too....

yeah I thought about a 36 or another lighter fork but I think I'd break it to fast.

I've already snapped the lowers on my 66 once, I don't think a 36 has as strong a set of lowers on them as the Marzo does.

weight weenie'n structural stuff is beyond my limits. In fact I'm going to be taking a slight hit on bike weight soon as the SX is ending it's time with me, a new 08 Norco Shore should be in my hands two weeks form now.

okay sorry to derraile the thread like this, but i figured it would be an okay time for a question. xy i was just wondering what you thought of your schawlbe tires. i have heard excellent things about them, but not from a source that i know has put the tires threw there paces. my question comes down too is the weight saving, and performance worth the extra cost over minions and dh 16, 24's??

ohh and jut for pic content and to show you a future memeber of the thread.

Here is my current one. Just sold my other bike the other day, a 2005 Stinky Supreme because I couldn't get used to the weight difference, so I am not sure if the brand new 2007 Stab Supreme frame in my garage will ever be built :imstupid:

Weight is 16.7kg (36.8lbs) with:
2007 SX Trail III frame
DHX 5.0 with Ti spring
Fox 36VAN RC2
DT Swiss FR2350 wheels
Hope Moto V2 with floating discs and braided hoses
Maxxis Minion Front and Rear
E13 SRS and bash
Race Face Diabolus cranks
Race Face Diabolus Stem
Race Face Diabolus bars
Odi Lock on grips
Race Face Diabolus seatpost
SDG seat
Hope seatclamp
Sram X.0 derailleur and shifter
FSA headset
Easton Flatboy pedals
...

The only changes I have planned are:
Other (lighter) cranks, maybe Hones with 2 chainrings
A front derailleur
Another chainguide to work with the 2 chainrings

But, I have to admid, it already rides like a dream:monkeydance:

I was off a bit on the tire weight. I forgot to add in a tube for the back as the minnion is tubeless.

anywho. the SXT with the trail tires on it came out to be 35lb 2oz, still pretty damn good for a bike with a coil shock and a 66.

poonstar it is a large. im about 6'1" and like a little larger cockpit so i oppted for the bigger size. ohh and i know the michy's are lighter than the minions and that the schwalbe's are ligher than both. i just wanted to know if the it was worth spending the extra cash on the schwalbe's for the performance and weight difference over the minion's and the michy's.
