Saw this thread on another forum and thought it was pretty cool. I know there are some of you s are real music buffs, so I thought it was worth posting here.

Who are some of the best (notice I did not say "favorite") voices in music right now? For those of us who aren't music buffs, please post the band/group the person is with so we know who you are talking about.

I'm not a music buff, so take this with a grain of salt... but here are my top 3:
- Harry Connick Jr.
- Sara McLaughlin
- Lindsey Buckingham (guitarist and occasional singer from Fleetwood Mac)
- the dude from System of a Down

that appears to be four but I've always been a fan of Madona, Jack Johnson, and Chris Martin as far as voice is concerned

I guess I'm not the only fan of old blues here, you cant leave out the man himself Muddy Waters...also I truly dig Skip James, T-bone Walker, Blind Willie Johnson, John Lee Hooker...etc etc. Although they arent all from mississippi they all rock

i find it funny that people ditch on the white stripes...they couldn't have come out a more unlikely scenario...by the 3rd lp they were still on the tiny Sympathy for the Recording Industry label, and somehow a movement started, someone at a big label decided to reissue that cd (_white blood cells_) on their label, and it snowballed from there. their popularity certainly didn't just stem from the "critics".

I suppose that you are right.......that being said, it's all personal preference (I'm sure that you don't share my tastes in music.....and there is nothing wrong with that...)
