So that kook did get kicked off. Shucks. I have some pent up anger I could have misdirected in his general direction.

Nice of you to drop by Dr. Torquemada. Don't suppose you have any new riding pics you care to share??? Didja hear, next year we're having a Brooklyn Love Fest. Everyone's sleeping on Siko's couches and we're showing up at 16 Powers Street unannounced demanding a tour and a ride to Plattekill.

I was at said location last night and saw a juicy little something hanging from the vine juuuuust about ripe for the picking and shipped to WOOstahhh. Got one word for ya Knucks, Ohmmmmmmm.....
PHUCK, I wish I knew what that meant. Well I think I know what it means, I hope

i know what ya mean. i wanted more details than that jibberish with trace elements of sentance structure that left mental images of bmw bliss. Just think, during this thread, i will have built and ridden 2 different bikes.

I just want my bike mans and womens. It's killin me yo. I got pretty much all the parts. I'll be riding it brakeless for 2 months, unless I put on the spare Hayes HFX mags on there. Something is wrong with them, it's like they work too good, but actually drag on the rotor. New pads too. I tried bleeding them but it kinda got worse. I'm suspecting there's too much fluid in them? That possible? Any ideas? I hate to put hayes brakes on this bike, but I'm BROKED for a month or so till I have 400 stinks for the M4's.

really, i bought new hopes for the LeToy3 i built up for my brother. bought new in box 4 piston front and single piston in rear. they are not the mono but yet they have the new mini lever. i HATE these freekin brakes. they have never worked right from the start. i have them bled and then a couple weeks later, the lever bottom out on the grip. Hope brakes are just to flaky. i hate them and as soon as we get back from a road trip / race next week, i am fining some sucker to trade me for his hayes mags. F hope!

i have always run Hayes MAGS and they freekin work ALL the time. My M1 had old school hopes and they were marginal at best. i had a bad feeling when i bought these new hopes for the hardtail. o well.

i dont get the whole "modulation" thing. My hayes are ON or OFF and i like it that way. IF i grab really hard, they lock up the wheel and if i dont want the wheel locked up, my weight and speed of the bike creates the "modulation" that i need. These hopes give me little confidence. i grab the brake and the brake lever just squishes in the palm of my hand. i dont feel like there is power. i feel like i could crush that lever.

I get the sensation with my hayes that i feel the pads bottom out on the rotor and then the brake lever and brake fluid become the leverage necessary to apply all that fource to the rotor.

peace everyone! hayes rule and hope suck! JK lemme have it!

Hmm.. that's alot. They dind't say anything about that when I ordered my rl. But anyways, is gonna be sweet :D

They said my frame is complete right now, just lacks the powdercoat and assembly. It should finish up sometime in October! Cant wait!

I spoke to the guyz two days ago, and they said my rl would be finished in late October, or early November. Probably the same batch as yours Joel. Can't wait!

Personaly preferance i suppose. I HATE the on or off feel the hayes have. They just feel like two blocks of wood hitting the rotor, and don't offer any more power over my mono m4s. These new hopes solve so many problems over the old ones, there pretty much completely different systems.

On another note, im making pancakes. Anyone agreeing to put me up will have as many panckaes cooked for them as they can handle. Dab hand chef me :D

Im currently pondering on what wheel set up to run on my TMX, ive got it 24/26, and am contemplating dual 24s, or maybe 26s. I mainly freeride with the odd downhill race, any suggestions?

thanks

depends on which you do the most. I like 24's for tech riding and stuff, but 26's are probably better for freeriding and dh. For the TMX, i say go for 26's. Which fork you running on that?

Well im currently running 888s, but arent getting along with them. No matter what i do to alter them, i bottom them out all the time, and i arent exactly heavy at 11 stone. Missin my monsters :( lol. Hoping to be running Shivers soon. My only worry with running dual 26s was that the bottom bracket would be really high.

thanks for your responces

Don't worry bout the high BB. I'm sure you'll be fine...

Got a Sherman to replace my Dorado SC while it's getting fixed. Only problem is, I forgot to remove the bottom part of the headset (the thing pressed to the steer tube, anme?), and so I can't install the fork till I get my other fork back when it's fixed.

Strange about your probs with your 888s mike. Mine feel pretty stiff, compared to my mate edds which are a little softer, and my mate shauns 170mm which i just bottomed out sitting on his bike... AFAIK they all have the same weight springs/oil in them, most strange...

Not bottom mine out yet, edd did a couple of times at nannerch, just wound on some more FA compression, sorted the problem right out.

The race? Bummer, I did that a while back too.

Okay I wanna know more about all the BMW lovers in this thread, that I've come to know quite well (you know who you are). Let's get some personal stuff in here.

This is a photo of me back from '98 when I was young and innocent. Before my life got sidetracked by BMW addiction. Now I take BMW in needles.

Notice the McGrath replica helmet and baggy pants. Damn, I was cooler back then, than I am now...

Erm, well if im one of the ones classed in the "come to know quite well" catorgary, i don't actually have any pictures like that. So that got me off easy, unless we have to put personal details too...

Oh and as a sidenote, started my software development course properly today, f-kin ace!

Oh and macmx, the pic of you doing the hip somewhere in this thread, is the background to my brief presentation to everyone on downhilling/brooklyns. Part of my language and coms class, apprently we have to do it to "communicate" to the class... if you don't mind of course.

Bottoming out a fork is never the fault of the fork, unless you're running the heaviest springs and highest oil level you can...

Have you put heavier springs in it?

Yeh i know that, but the thing is ive had boxxers before as well. Never bottomed them out, and the were set up real soft. Ive only just started bottoming them out lately, its like theyre slowly deteriating.

Well, Marz forks are notorious for coming with too-low oil levels.. Have you tried adding more oil?

Ive only really started doing it this weekend, and due to the fact that i can get kit cheap, theres not much point in me messin with them, i can sell them for what i payed and buy some shiver DCs or another set of monsters.

*shrug* Whatever you want, but it'd be a really, really simple process to just dump a few more mL of oil in there and the fork would be perfect.

AR - Sure you can use my picture. If it is indeed mine. I'm in a balck tee with the blue mini and pink Dorado SC for correct? Anyway, what's this presentation? Sounds interesting.

Aye, thats the picture. The presentations nout special, just a quick powerpoint thing i've got to do to the class as an assesment of my communication skills...

I'l do some screen prints and throw a few pages up here, but it's literally just your picture as the main peice, and some text explaining what it is i do etc. I couldn't be too bothered making it look all swish, i thought your picture did enough of that on its own ;)

Cool! I'd love to see that!

We should continue this thread but people - post your BMW's on Ged's new site and share with the Brits. Hehe.-

Ah the only thing british about it is it's british owned, .co.uk, british content.. erm, ok bad example, but it's more of a worldwide site, we wan't everyone who owns a brooklyn and has the internet signed up to that family! Great how it says family too, i feel all wanted now. :D

Thumbs up to Ged from here.

It's got it's own forum, just for us brooklyn owners! How damn cool. Owned and run etc by Ged, however, this doesn't mean we can let this thread die!

But all you with brookies, even without, you dont have to own one, go sign up, it's our little online family. Peace.

GOSH diggly dang it. That web site reminds me of brooklyn's old website. VERY shweeet!!!!!!!

Check out ged's mini! Sweeeeeeeet... Wich I had gotten my shock painted.

Actually, when I get my mini painted again, I want it like Ged's but I'm putting yellow stickers on that thing. Not because of Ged's rather Mini nr. 1.

Shotbus - you got your shock painted right?
