Real talk - do you feel like a hostage in CALIFORNIA? Knowing how much Trump hates that place?
In all seriousness, Newsom has fucked this state up ($68B deficit for 2025 & we're the 5th wealthiest economy in the world) and fear Trump will make it even more difficult out of spite & hatred towards Newsom. Trumps tax cuts in 2017 killed me because of the limited SALT tax deductions which cap at $10K. They used to cap at $24K which allowed for more write offs, they are set to expire at the end of 2025. We already pay over 9% in state income tax alone in addition to a $17K+ property tax bill. The cost of living is brutal here, to add insult to injury our gas just went up because of more of Newsom's "taxes & fees" (pushing $5+ a gallon again). IMO it's still the most beautiful state in the country, just sucks what we have to shell out to be able to enjoy it. So I'm hoping Trump won't fully stick it to CA, but only time will tell.

Trump hates more than Newsom. Last I remember the state votes blue. Don't forget that Newsoms ex wife was engaged to Don Jr as recently as last year. It's an elitist circle jerk!

If you left Cali where would you go?

Boise is a mini super consrvative California, you should go visit it and see. Besides Boise you've got Sandpoint as an option.

Fuck California and fuck Elon Musk.

CA is still very blue, though it gained some red in 2024. With the fires in SoCal it may turn a bit more, but probably not enough to flip the state. This great wealth of CA is fairly new, about 30-35 years with the boom of the Silicon Valley, however Newsom has made it nearly impossible for large companies to want to stay and are fleeing to red states with lower tax rates. I'm about 25 minutes from the Tesla car plant, and Musk has talked about leaving the state. Putting the "I hate Musk" aside, that's approximately 22K employees that would either lose their job or have to move to another state further reducing our tax revenue. Space X is leaving as well as Chevron, so that's quite a bit of lost tax revenue right there alone. There has been over 400+ companies that have left CA since 2018. In 2026 Newsom is done as governor, so maybe we can get lucky and a more moderate person is elected. However there has been rumors swirling that VP Harris might run in which she'd probably win further destroying this state with her progressive stance chasing more companies away.

I seriously don't know where I'd go if I was to move. My son is in the Denver area, so if he were to get married and start a family I could see myself living in CO. My wife & I do like the Cherry Creek area, but the cold is something we'd probably struggle with. Arizona was a thought, but it gets way too hot in the summer. End of the day CA is the best place to live despite it's outrageous cost of living.

In the cleavage of the Tetons
My doom prediction regarding real estate trends:

Cue Musk, Trump and their goons buying up everything that might be distressed, so they can offer Moscow-style abodes for the most loyal functionaries.

NEXT UP: Seizing luxury estates owned by liberals, and offering them to their emerging Oligarch class.

(Tongue in cheek…sort of)

I just thought of this regarding Musk, the government, all of this shit. Especially due to Starlink.

When you say that, do you mean CA, or do you mean LA and SF?
I am talking about SD, LA, SF, Sac, Nor cal, etc... all of it! Haha

Mobs of people, high cost of living, sprawl, sprawl, sprawl.

Basically, where the people are at is what I am talking about.

Imagine the front range was an entire state.

I was shocked at the lower cost of living in the south last summer. Washington and Oregon only compare to Cali in the I-5 corridor. Idaho has Boise, but thats mostly Californians now. Wyoming is a polar opposite. Other states have Cali zones but California is on another level.

I would never live there but I've driven the length of it and spent some time in SD, SF, Sacramento, and Bakersfield. I don't need to live there to understand what a monster it is. I've watched the impact Californians have had on Bend, Boise, and the entire state of Montana.

Blaming the 'Dems' seems like an easy way out. I don't have any answers except it's probably more complicated than that.

Well we've had a democratic governor since 2011, senate has been democrat for over 30 years & assembly is also 30 years. It's all been democratically controlled and falls on them for the situation we are in as they control everything in Sacramento. They determined "what's best" for all of us Californians and trust me, it's not working very well.

He's not going anywhere. That would mean leaving his soft, comfortable life and possibly accepting responsibility for his own personal failings. Why do that when he can just sit on his ass and blame libtards and brown people for everything he thinks is wrong with his life? That's what Trump gives people like Brian, absolution in the form of blaming literally anyone else. That's what a fascist always gIves. At least until you run out of "others".

How have I failed? You're such a F'n moron! Sit on my ass, that's rich! What's with this blame of brown people? Typical leftist answer to everything, play the race card because you have no real answer. The state of CA dictates what fuel mixture must go in you car, they tell you what light bulbs & plumbing fixtures you can & can't have, they are making it impossible to buy a gas furnace/water heater in 2030 when we don't have the resources to support it in addition to paying the highest in utilities in the country. That my friend is a dictatorship run by the democrats not republicans. We pay the highest in state income tax, yet our state is flat broke. So if its a democratic run state, companies are leaving, people are leaving then who is to blame for this? It's not Trump, remember he hasn't even been in office for a month. Just amazing how you think the left just walks on water. Time to start opening your eyes little tike!

Not sure, Ca has it all. Great weather, lots of outdoor activities. It's a tough place to leave, plus we don't want to be landlocked, so that limits our choices.
