as for live for speed, is there a single player mode? i've been tempted to buy it but if it is purely online i aint gonna bother, i want to be able to practice on my own on an empty track without having to crete my own online race and locking it out to other users.

its not for sale in peru...
i´ve heard nothing but great things about it.. and i´ve tried the demo...
coming from GPL... GTR feels like drivng cars with a load of inertia and i didnt like much the slip angle of the tires. i only played gpl 65, and LFS online.
i dont have time to play now.. i gotta go to the US in about 2 months, i´ll pick up a copy then.


download live for speed. there is a free demo. its only for 3 cars (the gti hatchback is my favourite), and one track.
you can play it alone (the AI sucks balls tough), but racing it online is just awesome.
the full version has a lot of cars, and like 4 tracks, plus theyll add more tracks and cars in the next release.
download it and try it.. nothing to loose, and try the online.. drive the gti on blackwood until you do 1.37-38 consistently and get online, its great.

i´ve seen one for sale here...
exactly like this one, with like 70k km on it...
they wanted 13k a while ago...
now they are asking 5k but nobody is buying it.....

you´d be amazed of the kinda of old cars (shelbys, chargers, camaros, bel airs, etc, etc) you find in south america selling for peanuts....
if i had a way of sending them back into better markets.... :p

I originally played it on a Win 98 machine which was def. sub 1Ghz, Then a year or so back I played it on a modern gaming machine with everything turned up max, at like 1600 x 1200, still getting like 80fps and had such a blast. The thing that makes it so good is the courses. They're just excellent. Nearly all of them are really enjoyable.

ok, what car did you guys use to win the Supercar Championship in the Professional Events? i've tried a 800hp AMG, a 750+hp something-else, and one other car, and cannot win the third race of the series. the Cadi Cien is kicking my ass hadily.

argh. i was looking at that, then decided to go with the AMG right next to it for some reason. is it just a crap-shoot when it comes to picking a car with handling, or is there some way of comparing cars?

ps - my girlfriend really, really, really hates this game.

Ford GT works rather nicely. Has less wheel spin and better handling than most in that class. I did it in a suped up Saleen S7 though.


I'm currently racing 1000km of Mt Fuji in the Formula GT. No b-spec :dead:

it rewards (magazine derived :D) knowledge of the cars in real life. an AMG SL is still a SL at heart: a big, heavy convertible (or coupe if CL). the SLR McLaren is a whole different beast :eek:

Thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead......

I just picked up a copy of GT4 today and have a question: is there any way to turn off that "ghost car" thing when you are getting your license?? I hated it in GT3 (but I could turn it off) and like it less in GT4....

long delayed response: two options: one is to drive faster than the ghost :D . the second is to exit that particular license test and then re-enter it.

i in turn am bringing this back from the dead since i just picked up GT4 again after a 18 month hiatus. :) it newly rocks once again, as i added a component video cable to my setup, and am now running it in 1080i HD fed into my dell 24". it's aliased and pixelated, but it's soooo much better than before. i can dig it. (i also can run the computer dvi input picture in picture or side by side. this monitor rocks...)

Challenge #6
Course: "City Courses" Citta di Aria (normal direction)
Vehicle: BMW 320I touring car '03

my tips for this challenge:
1) set the car up with lots of camber. i'm running -4.5 up front, -2.7 in back, iirc.
2) stage 4 turbo
3) set the gearing to auto setting 8 (that's not automatic transmission but the ratios)
4) when presented with two curves drive them as one smooth arc. zen is the fast way :D

my current time is 1'24.639", for the record, which is a few 10ths off of that of the current NASIOC/subaru leader.

Since I'm fairly new here i never knew this thread existed. I'm gunna give that challenge a shot and see how i do.

I smoke everyone I know at it, should be interesting to see how i compare.

Alright for my first preliminary runs my best was 1:29.779

I havn't changed any settings on the car yet though so I can drop that number a lot I'm sure. I'm too tired tonight. More tomorrow.

It's a lot more fun for me 2-player, not as into the single player part. But this is almost the same. Should be fun!

Why don't we say Thursday 5/17/07 at 6AM. I want enough time to play tonight and tomorrow, new track for Thursday night?

I only get a small window to play these days as we have newborn.

Sweet! I think that people on here tend to be pretty honest, I'm ok with no screenshot, unless you're super, super weirdly faster...

I can race without nitrous (NOX right Jim?)! Not sure if I remember that track, but I'll give it a shot tonight after I get burnt on Halo.
It's no Seattle in a Motorsport Elise, but it'll do!
