i see talk but no numbers... ? :D competition is good, indeed the whole point of this. bring it!
1:25.254 I can atleast shave another .3-.4 if I can figure out how to stop crashing into wall in the slight left-hander just before the finish on the uphill part.

This is wicked fun, Cant wait for the next challenge!

.
Stage 4 turbo of course. It adds 100+ hp over the NA tune. The only way you're going to get really good numbers is by playing with the suspension.

yea but on a track like this i think the n/a is key cause theres lots of uphill and tight corners. i just made a 1:36 super hard tires no suspension tuning just n/a tune 3.

any of you guys got laps in yet?

As of last night I was at 1:29.779 but Toshi is still in for the win at 1:24 and change. See page 4 of the thread.

I used the "noclips" code and just drove straight through stuff. Time was 13 seconds.
FTW.

Yeah, this isn't James's track. He can't wallride to victory lane ;)
actually, there are at least two profitable wallrides that i use...

entry speed into that corner can't be more than 70-75 mph. brake to that point, turn in neutral, look ahead!, and don't get back on the gas until you see sky again. that's a key way to get speed on starting the lap, too: maintain a constant 72ish mph into that corner and then jump on it.

i thought that, too, going with the stage 3 turbo at first, which is faster than the stage 4 n/a. stage 4 turbo is the ticket for this one, tho.

and, yeah, my current time is 1'24.1xx"... :D

the bar has been raised (lowered?):

1'23.811"

i left a couple of tenths behind on the front side for sure, but i'm pretty happy with the lap overall. in the 23s! woohoo.

:pirate2:

tips for those who are lagging:

- MT or AT, your choice
- in the transmission setup screen choose auto: 5 at the bottom. works best with the stage 4 turbo -- you top out 5th gear a few times, which is perfect
- i am running -4.5 front camber, -2.9 or something like that in back, and found that keeping the suspension at stock settings otherwise is good for this bumpy, cobblestone- and curb-ridden course
- stage 4 turbo, of course
- super soft race tires
- wallride the big right hander after the first straight + kink down by the water (?) until near the end, then pop off and cut in sharply
- wallride the 180 degree after the next big straight section but be careful to come off of it early and regain control else you'll tag the curb on the R and be straight out of luck

Toshi: I want to give you props, I really do. That time is very impressive.

The best I can get so far is 1:28.902 but... that's no wall-wallriding at all and manual transmission. I've dropped the gear ratio nice and close but not as close as what your automatic is pushing. I'm hitting fith but not redlining, maybe I'll drop it some more.

As much as I know it will drop my time I can't bring myself to wall-ride. It just ruins the whole thing for me.

What's your best score without a wall ride? How much is it helping you?

i'm not running an auto transmission: the auto refers to the text at the bottom of the transmission gear ratio adjustment screen.

i honestly have no idea what time i'd run without wallriding, as i've done so on those two turns ever since learning the track way back when. besides, if you hit the wall too hard with all the driver aids off you'll scrub speed or spin... maybe i'll give it a shot later tonight :D

wallriding is easy. the hard part is coming off the wallride and regaining the line, at least on this course, surely designed to foil wallriders...

i haven't made another pass at it and probably won't, but my time is no longer in the lead in the parallel contest (same rules) over on the subaru board's motorsports forum. someone has me beat by a solid second... :(

Well my best is 1:27.698.

Which is pretty much a sad time compared to you two. So Toshi is the leader.

The context ends at 0600 PST so only a few hours left. Whoever wins posts the next contest.

you can't just select turbo:none and n/a tuning:none in the setup screen? and if you can't, just get one in a different color. at most it'll cost you b-specing some endurance race while you sleep :D
Can we do carbon driveshaft and flywheel mods?
sure. clutches are ok, too.

OK so I pulled a 1.30.919 last night.
Fun track, theres some great pendulum turns where you've got to set up perfectly. I haven't done squat as far as suspension tuning yet...I don't really know how;)

Had company last night so I couldn't try the challange yet. I'll be getting my first runs in tonight though.

The suspension tuning for this race is really going to be key, and I get the feeling there will be a lot of ways to get this car to hook up.
