I had removed them once before to swap out the ridiculous 34t chainring, so the factory *snap!* removal process was already taken care of….

Between de-ugga dugging the cranks and being terrified to cross thread that cassette, it was semi stressful. Kept it to a single beer and managed to not fuck it up.

At first I liked this post, but have changed it to fancy, because of the clever placement of those blue shop towels.

:fancy:

yeah, I added a layer of 3M tape on the cranks when I first gotthe bike in Oct 2020. It’s starting to show its age.

The Ridewrap job is also starting to show signs of age at the edges. Overall the bike still looks near new. Not bad for over 3,000 km of fairly demanding riding.

EDIT: applying my average descent for a relatively mellow ride, that equates to over 100 km of descent.

Shit… I’m due to break myself at the very least by now…

I think I’m pretty light duty compared to you!
I'm light till I'm not lol..so while I'm light it's perfect..works for me lmao

going back WAAAAAY Back to perfect fit..rolled 2 wheel corners and sweep was perfect for the type of ride pimping required to own these (flip flops were a requirement) ..man they don't know what they are missing on DH WC...

Don't have pics yet but I ordered a Smashpot for my 36. Whoops. Currently my Fuel weighs 36lbs(has Kitsuma coil on it, Exo+ and inserts front and rear). Whoops.

How many ugga duggas was your dub crank bolt done up to?
Lol the latest Downtime podcast, Chris was saying how he wrenched his should trying to undo a crank bolt and I'm pretty sure I can guess what interface was involved....

best spot to clamp the bike
I clamp everything on the TT. If there's a good reason not to, I'd rather be ignorant because its too late to learn a new way.

those blue shop towels.
I could start a whole thread on the merits of good shop towels and why Scott Shop towels are worth hoarding.

Bringing back the Revolt vibes.

That bike looks tiny, how tall are you?
I think I was subconsciously going for the revolt vibe, I loved that bike's aesthetic. I am 5'9 and usually ride a medium modern bike, occasionally I can ride a large. This bike is a medium and probably a bit short in terms of reach but fit's me everywhere else. It's probably the big fork that is making it look small.

some dh bikes from the 2010-ish time point till maybe 2015/17ish are very similar in overall geometry to modern DH bikes with the exception of wheelbase and reach. my xprezo is one of those.

You don't think they would be longer now? I wish the reach was a little longer on this without giving up standover.

It'd be a competition between @manhattanprjkt83 's, @bullcrew , @buckoW and whatever monstrosity @HardtailHack has going
I have a workbench with stuff I throw at it.
At work I have a toolbox that I throw things at.
I'm more a permanent state of chaos person than an OCD type, that's why I have three of everything.

EDIT- Beautiful.

Double Edit, we had a bird stuck in the workshop so I hung around with all the doors open and cleaned up. Bird is still there, stupid thing.

In the cleavage of the Tetons
So, this was my workshop in 2010, before I had it filled with tools for my art thing (BicycleArt). It was 1400 sq feet, hardwood hickory floors, 12 windows, unreal workspace. Shower/bath, little bedroom, AC/Heat, etc. I miss it.

The main reason is it keeps the fork wipers/foam rings lubricated. A Fox service tech told me to do it years ago and it's been a habit since. Also it's fairly space efficient.
Interesting. Does it make a noticeable difference in how the bikes ride?

Not sure, as I always store them like that - probably not a major difference. I remember Darren from Push giving a tip to briefly invert the fork at the top of a descent to lube up the rings/wiper, but the main reason that the Fox tech gave me to do it was to extend service intervals and stanchion/bushing lifespan.
